The Fourth at This Old House!

The food that my brother Leonard reminded me to take a photo of, steak, corn on the cob, pasta salad and veggie salad.

Trifle for dessert with red, white and blue highlights!

Katie and Andrew…

Katie, Andrew, Hope and little Andrew!

Hope and Andrew’s parents! They live in Texas.

My brother Steve and Dear. Steve and Kelly live in Southern California.

We broke the 4th of July heat record here in the Seattle area…92. Too hot to do much of anything but hydrate! Our town does not allow fireworks so our guests moved over to my sister’s house across the way from us when darkness approached. Her house happens to be in a city that does allow personal fireworks.

We’re getting ready to watch the Women’s World Cup Final Game now…go U.S.A.!

How was your weekend?

  1. Oh I’d love to live in a fireworks free zone…it was a lonnnnggg night. Hope that the revelers will be kind to us tonight because they are allowed to use fireworks until after midnight. Acckkk…

  2. Everything looks fabulous Ellen – you are so wonderfully patriotic!! Something we Canadians could learn from for sure. Glad you were reminded to take a picture of that delicious meal you served. Love the picture of Katie and Andrew!!!

  3. Everything looks wonderful and I love all your photos, especially of your family. Those decorative touches are great and so is that food 🙂 looks like you all had a fantastic 4th.

  4. Your deck looks fabulous!! It’s the perfect place for a party. And speaking of fabulous…that plate of food looks pretty fab too! 🙂

Hope you get some relief from the oppressive heat soon.

  5. Your home looked so beautiful for the 4th celebration, as does the food, so glad it was a fun evening, thanks for sharing.
    Blessings,

  6. Everything looks so festive and beautiful Ellen! Isn’t it fun to have friends and family to celebrate with? We had all 3 “boys” and their families and some friends over for the 4th. I missed my big yard and house but this small house was filled with laughter and love!
