…for the most wonderful time of the year.

Aren’t these “Wee Forest Folk” cute! They really are little. I only have the angel, a shepherd and 1 wise man.

I might head out on Boxing Day and try to find yet another nativity set on sale. I like the classic designs and some of the more modern designs, too.

John 1:14 (The Message)
The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
the one-of-a-kind glory,
like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
true from start to finish.
Our pastor is unpacking this one verse in the book of John for the month of December.
John 1:14 (ESV) And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
How are preparations coming in your home for Christmas? Are you going simple or over the top this year?
Simple works for me these days. A few things come out of the closet each year which makes them seem like something new.
I’m just hoping our construction is done in time to get the tree up!!! 🙂
Oh I just love your little mouse figurines. They are so totally charming. Children would be enchanted by them. I don’t remember seeing them before.
All of the Nativities you display are beautiful and unique.
So far, simple has been the rule of the day; however, I am not completely happy with it and may be rifling through “the stuff” again tomorrow. It’s not “enough” yet.
Oh my! I’d have to sell a grandchild…no wonder you have only three Wee Forest Folk! =D
Our girls love the tradition of decorating our house the day after Thanksgiving and they were both still around to do that so we are DECKED. I love the variety of Nativities. So your wee forest folk was probably an entire set? How long have you had them? Have you gone online looking for the rest? It always amazes me what you can find now that the internet has opened the world up to us. I have a very modern set that an artist in Colorado made. She left the clay white and rolled or imprinted the clay with different things, like the end of a cinnamon stick or lace or other things from nature, then she wrapped big sheets around in kind of a cone shape for their robes. I would love an older more traditional set but I haven’t found one yet that strikes me.
You’ve got me pondering now that “one verse” that your pastor is going to spend the month on. Wondering what all can be “found” in that verse. Joy to your week Ellen!
Before I headed off to the mainland for the week I put a Christmas wreath on the front door. That was the extent of my decorating. It will have to wait for next week. I love the idea of multiple nativity sets – lovely!
Ellen, I love your little mouses… smile… They are so cute.. and your open door is so inviting. I haven’t decorated yet ! This week hopefully!!!
Only the Word of God could pack multiple sermons in a few words !
There’s some decorating happening, but not everything. Simple is the way I like to go. Lots of greenery and candles. Your nativity sets are charming.
The descriptive words “grace” and “truth” stand out … it seems I’ve heard them several times this weekend. I like your traditional manger scene set up on the wooden creche with the star.
We are not decorating at all as it is all packed away for our move.. It’s OK, as I am enjoying everyone else’s decorations on the blogs I visit and I hope to take a few trips into Manhattan to enjoy the festivities there.
I’ve had my Nativity set since the year we were married so it is very sentimential to me but I think I’d like to add on a few new sets now that I’ll have more room next year.
I like both versions of this verse–it is so well known but never fails to make me in awe!
Ooooo – I see those cardinals mats make it to the fireplace again! How sweet. 🙂
I love your nativity set — speaking of nativity set, I got a Playmobil set for Miss Baby. In case you want to stock up for grandbabies. ;0)
Definitely simple this year. That verse is enough to last not only throughout December, but for a lifetime!
Love the mouse set and the nativities..
Love that nativity scene…it’s beautiful and so are your decorations. There’s no over the top at our home…but the lights are on the fence….the front door is covered…a few lighted mantles, with words of Joy, Peace, Love, Joy, Family, Simplify…and so we count down the days with glowing candles and lights and it all looks so pretty.
It’s looking lovely Ellen! Love the wee little forest folk. So cute! I went a bit simpler this year and gave myself permission not to put every single Christmas thing I owned out.
