What’s New…

…in my zoo!

Speaking of new…Happy Rosh Hashana to all our Jewish friends. The Jewish New Year begins this evening and ends September 18th. L ‘Shana Tova!

I finally put away my red, white and blue. My fall bins are ready to come down from the attic. I was at Target and saw these fall tin wall pieces and they were priced right for me…

I subbed out my plates for the tin pumpkins and pear for the Fall season. That might just be a tall skinny pumpkin but we’re calling it a pear after our pear bounty here.  At Christmas time I’ll add something new again.

Here’s a closer view of the pumpkin. These pieces were $2.50 each.

On Saturday Dear and I went to Cabela’s in Tulalip and while he was spending his gift card from the kids I found this table top tripod for myself. I’ll be using it for my food photos.

I bought this crown shelf piece to incorporate with my Christmas and Easter decor celebrating Christ as my King.

My hydrangeas are fading but still beautiful to my eye.

The maple leaves are falling and before we know it the lawn will be totally covered! Look at all that clover in my grass…

Later on Saturday the work continued on the siding with Josh helping again. I made a big pot of chili for the workers to enjoy when they were done.

Progress is good to watch…

We are still promised many dry days and Dear is encouraged with the extra time to finish the siding before the rains come!

When our Saturday was almost done we got one of those dreaded calls that my dad had to call 911 because my mom was very disoriented and didn’t know what end was up. Family met my dad and mom at the hospital and the doctors think she had a TIA event. They kept her overnight and are doing more tests today. I’m happy to be flying down to Southern California next Saturday so I can visit with my mom and dad in person.

So…what’s new in your zoo!?

  1. Up to 110 mph winds here in Anchor Point Alaska, Bernie is out fishing in the wind and rain and I am inside with his cousins. Learned one of the second cousins is a first wife in a polygamy marriage with two other wives. Other family details flowing…36 years into this marriage, had I known all this earlier there may have been a second thought about marrying in!

  2. It’s like pears are the new thing to decorate with….I’ve seen them many places. I would call that a pear for sure. Rejoicing with you for your Cali trip. I had a grandmother who had TIA’s for years. Strange little burps but not a serious problem for her. LOVED seeing Hydrangea’s still blooming. Our 33 hour 7 inch rain a couple of weeks ago has revived so much in our yard. Even trees that had lost most of their leaves have new leaves coming out like it’s Spring. CRAZY year. I’m hoping to have a quiet week after many BUSY ones. Its good to be able to be still sometimes.

  3. Oh I’m sorry that your mom had one of those TIAs…very hard on everyone, though they usually pass quickly. Yay for being able to go visit later in the week.

Well, as you know, we’re both in the process of siding. I watch; he works. At least you make chili! I really like the color of your siding, too. Everything is just looking great.

  4. I was thinking of your mom today and was planning to ask you how she was doing. Sorry for the incident. I know that was scary and I also know it is had on you not being there. Glad you are getting to go soon. Went to dinner tonight with a friend whose bday is Sept 13. We always go out to celebrate together. Went to Sticky Fingers, a BBQ place. Because it was my first time there, they gave us dessert! That was a nice surprise! Signed a contract for an addition and some remodeling on our house. Work will start in about three weeks. I can hardly believe we are really going to do it…I’ve been waiting a LONG time!

  5. Ellen, I’m sorry to hear about your mom, and I’ll be adding her to my prayer list. Your Fall metal pieces are so pretty, and that crown piece is gorgeous! Your hydrangeas sure look pretty to me, and wow! lot’s of progress on the siding. laurie

  6. Definitely a pear! and a lovely new tripod. You’ll have to let me know how you like it. Your hydrangeas look exactly like mine except I’m still getting new blossoms.

Hope your mom is doing better Ellen. I’m keeping her and your dad in prayer. xo

  7. Lots happening at your place! work is getting done with some play on the side and enough hard things to keep going to the Lord. May your mom feel better soon.
