I have a lot of photos from the tulip fields to share with you but right now I’ve been thrown into a world of clamor.

Big trucks, scraping and hammering and danger all around. Well…the danger part is mostly me and how I feel about men walking around on steep roofs or climbing up tall ladders.

When things are removed, new things are revealed. Here’s Dear painting the fascia underneath the old gutters that we realized were just bare wood and never painted. I got to hold the ladder, except for when I was taking a photo. Now when the new gutters go up the wood will be more protected.

We’re real thankful that the roofers have gotten some periods of dryness so that things aren’t as slippery as they could be.

Soon the mayhem will be over, my checkbook will be drained, and I’ll post more tulip photos.

  1. Hope you got a roof that is rated to last 50 years so you can reasonably expect to never have to go through a roof replacement again…unless you manage to live to be 110!
In Texas we were advised to never get a roof rated to last more than ten years as golf ball sized hail, tornadoes and hurricanes would routinely demolish any cailber roofing about once every five years. The advice was spot on.

Having a good roofing company on speed dial could mean the difference between getting a new roof in a day or two after a weather event or living with a blue tarp overhead for weeks if one tarried in making a call.

    • Jill, I was just talking to my brother in Texas whose roof probably has to be replaced because of a hail storm. Thankfully he has insurance that will cover most of the cost. We did take our age into consideration on the rating of the roof. We didn’t want to roof it for the next owners, too. LOL!

  2. Hi Ellen,

I am afraid of heights, deadly afraid. I have a lot of respect for roofers, and for Mr. B! Will pray for sunny weather your way so that your new roof can be installed quickly without delay by the weather.

  3. We had our roof replaced several years ago. They did a great job in only a couple of days and left not even one roof nail or shingle behind. It looks like you are having more than one building re-roofed – the garage/shop as well?

  4. work project at hand. We did our roof two years ago..Our company’s name was called Reckless. We are pleased with the end result and they made an immaculate job of cleaning up. It soon will be clean and you will love it and no more drips…..

  5. It has been a productive week for you. Nothing dull there. This reminds me of the few years ago when we redid our roof. It was sure nice when the last nail was picked up and summer could commence.
