Feed The Birds?

I’m really not sure who is getting more of the birdseed…

I see plenty little birds coming to the feeder, also. Today I have to refill the feeder because it is empty!

Tomorrow all the Christmas boxes are coming down out of the attic again and I hope to re-organize everything while I put stuff away. How long do you keep your tree and decorations up?

Do you have any big plans for New Year’s Eve?

  1. Those squirrels will eat you out of house and home! But they’re cute and they need food, too. Have you seen those whirly bird feeders? My tree and decorations remain up through King’s Day and come down on January 7. These are the days I enjoy my home the most. No rush, no racing about, just quietly enjoying the lights. Have fun reorganizing!

  2. I like to take my tree down on New Year’s Day, so this year I might do it on January 2. I was going to be out of town but those plans fell through. Now it’s going to be a quiet New Year at home – which is A-ok with me!

  3. Didn’t decorate that much in our new, tiny apartment – consequently not much to put away usually by New Year’s. Fun cousin gathering coming up on Saturday. It’s sure a good feeling to re-organize now and put everything away in readiness for next year. Have a blessed New Year!

  4. You can’t do that….It takes so long to plan Christmas, so I just leave everything in it’s beauty…I basically call it my winter theme. Everything is put away by the end of February. The tree will come down next week..Invited out to friends for NY Eve.

  5. I usually put Christmas things away while all the football games are on January 1st. It depends on if we have people over. The house looks so plain and drab after all the color is gone!

  6. I leave everything up until Epiphany, as my mother did….then it’s time for a big clean up!
New Year’s eve will see us at the Ward Room. I have a new dress and new shoes and we’re looking forward to a lovely dinner and some good dance music. I don’t know that there will be more than one dance for we two, but I will be celebrating the fact that we are celebrating!

  7. I leave the Christmas decorations up until mid-January. But the winter themed decor, I leave until mid-February. Maybe if I was one to get it all decorated the day after Thanksgiving, it would come down sooner but I don’t do that until mid-December.

    Happy New Year!

  8. Ellen, didn’t you know that bird seed is not just for the birds? Cute! One time while camping we started giving the squirrels peanuts or something..we went away for an afternoon and they starting eating through our tent.. ):

  9. Tree stays up this year till Jan 1. I usually take it down Dec 27th. I agree everything seems to be drab after that.
Nice recap of your year Ellen..enjoyed reading it.
