I’m looking forward to longer days now that Winter Solstice has arrived. Sad but true, I found out the hard way that my body now rejects egg nog. Sigh***. I’ll need to replace this great treat with something that doesn’t distress.
Still experimenting with the tea strainer star effect with my camera. Thanks Vee for your added tips.
Today I’m shopping for the ingredients for our meals on the weekend. I decided on dessert for Christmas. I’m trying a Chocolate Hazelnut Tart. I don’t have a tart pan with a removable bottom so I’m headed to Sur la Table to remedy that. If it turns out well you’ll see the recipe on MGCC in the near future!
Hope you are all feeling the joy in your neck of the woods!
Last night I went to a funny little show at a theater in the city that featured songs from the 50’s & 60’s. Hubby wasn’t able to go but I had such fun with friends seeing the Christmas lights in the city. On the way up we grabbed a quick burger at a place with great shakes and they gave us a sample of an Eggnog shake. GLORY, it was good. The only good hubby sees out of his back problem is being an pain killers and able to enjoy milk products right now. Usually milk things don’t set well with him. I bought him a soy milk eggnog to try. It was horrid. Then I bought him a really healthy brand that was on sale….trying to be nice to our aging bodies. It was horrid. So I went back to the old standard and my was it enjoyable. So thankful it’s not out all year round. I’m imagining in wonderment what it would be like to go to a Sur la Table store…love their stuff. I have one of those pans and forget about it. It got pushed to the back of the cabinet so I haven’t really used it. I too, need to do my final shopping today. Our girls will both be home tonight and the parents come tomorrow. We celebrate my Brother in law’s birthday tomorrow and then get down to family fun for 3-4 days before they all go home. I’m so looking forward to this weekend. I hope yours is blessed with peace and joy! Merry Christmas Ellen!
I think we have the same decorating streak when it comes to Christmas trees :). Too bad about the egg nog. Perhaps I should have that same problem as I simply cannot resist it…. Have a very Merry Christmas. I just KNOW that dessert is going to be yummy!
Yes, I discovered that same thing about egg nog and my favorite chocolate shake some years ago… Egg nog is very photogenic, though, especially in the goblet. Hmmm…
Oh, speaking of delicious, your tree is yummy scrumptious! I think you’ve arrived with the tea strainer effect!!
How sad about the egg nog…..I’ve been enjoying my fair share this season. Your dessert sounds wonderful…..and sounds like you have a nice kitchen shop to pick up those nifty pans that come in so handy. Did you notice Marg’s german cake lifter on her cheesecake recipe. I’m on the hunt.
It looks like we are all on the home stretch…last minute details before Christmas. Your twinkly tree looks beautiful! As for the egg nog…I have never really acquired a taste for it.
If Marg needs snow…she should just come over here for her fix. Nice touch!
Your tree is absolutely beautiful, Ellen. Now, how does this “mystery tree” arrangement work? Is it available in major stores?
I will have to check out that star effect. Your tree looks beautiful!
Pretty effects on your Christmas tree!
God bless your Christmas.
Too bad about the egg nog – but your waistline will thank you. Sadly, I can tolerate egg nog very well and will pay for it in the New Year!
Ellen B! What is a star tea strainer effect on your camera and does mine have one????? I love the look!!! Thanks for the b day wish ‘-). Everyone keeps asking if I feel older and I say no older then when I turned 30.
Sorry to hear about your eggnog episode. That would depress me too especially since I just discovered Jack in the Box’s Eggnog shakes.
I’ll tell you a funny story that may not turn out so funny. I was making white chocolate cranberry bark this afternoon and hubby moved it on the table to have his lunch. A few hours later I hear my sweet little pooch (who can do no wrong, I might add) in the kitchen making angry noises. So I go to see what he’s up to and there he is with my bark on the floor, devouring it. I just hope he doesn’t suffer any repercussions for his sinful behavior.
Have a lovely Christmas ‘-).
