FFF ~ November Already…

Here we are in November and our thoughts more than usual turn to thankfulness. On Fridays we join Susanne with Friday’s Fave Five recalling our favorite things from the week.

1. Lana, Laura, Katie and I had a crafting party of sorts last Saturday. Although our production was real slow and we yielded only 6 little Matryoshka dolls we enjoyed loads of laughter. The making tears fall kind of laughter.

2. Our Pastor finished up the series on Spiritual Warfare on Sunday. One of the great things we were reminded of is that the battle has been won and we respond from a position of victory. We also were shown a great photo of the Shield of Faith and how shields were used in battle forming a solid wall of protection. This was accomplished with others beside you and behind you. We need each other.

3. I’m so thankful for my new faucet and my husband who installed it.

4. I really had a fun night opening the door for our Trick or Treaters! We had a lot and my daughter’s face makeup only scared away one little girl. I had to run after her to give her a candy!

5. I mowed the lawn one day this week and because of all the leaves it was a longer than usual workout. I was beat and when Dear came home from work he knew he was taking me out for dinner. Dear, Katie and I shared some great appetizers and we split a Kobe burger 3 ways. A good meal with no clean up is priceless after a hard workout!

I’ve noticed some bloggers who are posting a thankful post every day in November. It’s been great to read them. We have so much to be thankful for…

I’m looking forward to a weekend with nothing scheduled except for church on Sunday morning. Woohoo! How’s your weekend shaping up?

  1. I enjoyed your Matryoshka-making post 🙂 Glad you’ve had some great family things this week. Your pastor’s series sounds really interesting — a good reminder of our position in Christ.

  2. I do love your little Matryoshka dolls–all six of them. 🙂 The dinner out sounds yummy and perfect after that lawnmower workout.

I like the visual of the solid wall of shields, all of us standing together.

  3. Remembering your little MEAN Matryoshka still makes me smile. With hubby down I’ve been doing all his physical jobs around here….I’ve had to hire some help for some of it….and glory I’m sore and weary. I’m afraid we haven’t eaten the best with him down. I would like to sleep the entire weekend away. Hope you have a grand weekend!

  4. Sounds like you have had a good week. Thanks for your comment at my place. We have had an unusual one! But we are happy to have our new grand here and, after being sick for over a week, I am glad to finally be feeling better. Enjoy your relaxed weekend and your time of worship on Sunday!

  5. I’m getting quite a chuckle trying to imagine how horrible your daughter looked to actually scare a trick or treater. Too cute! Except for that stint raking leaves, I’d say you have enjoyed a delightful week. Hope that the weekend is just as fine. Here? I imagine it’ll be more of the house project. Today, though I said it was a “do-nothing” day, it’s more of a clean the bedroom day.

  6. Where’s the picture of Katie?? Sarah was a Zombie Mom with fake blood and dark circles under the eyes. Every year (for the past 5 years or so) she’s dressed as a different kind of mom – teenage mom, 50s mom, rocker mom – she always takes one of her dolls along.

Glad to hear that G took you out for dinner – nice hubby!!

And if it makes you feel a little better, I only made one little doll in a whole evening. They’re time-consuming and I’m not that crafty!

    Enjoy your relaxing weekend!

  7. No picture of the scary make-up? 🙂

I love eating out, but it is especially nice after hard work.

    The crafting party sounds fun!

I understand how a new faucet can be a blessing, as well as the hubby who installed it!

That sermon series sounds really good.

  8. Your crafting party looks like SO much fun! I’m looking forward to a quiet weekend. I’ve been so busy this week, we’ve had to run out for pizza and Chickfila a couple of times. It is nice when you’re rushed.

    I’m enjoying November, too!

  9. I like the idea of responding from a position of victory in spiritual victory. Somehow, I never thought of it in that way …

I’m always up for a dinner out!

  10. Your trick and treating sounds fun. I went to google matryoshka dolls and found I already saw them in a few shops here. Always been curious about them but never had anyone say something about them (language barrier); didn’t think of just googling them either. What a lovely week you had.

  11. We had no trick or treaters because our street was dark without power. Now I have so much candy! I’m going to have to bring some with us to all of our appointments this week and share with our doctors, nurses and their receptionists!
Your dolls came out so nicely! It sounds like it was a fantastic day. Good friends are such a blessing – and so is a nice dinner out with people we love and no clean up. 🙂
I hope you have a wonderful week ahead.

  12. It took hubby hours to mow all the leaves last week so I know what you mean. He was pretty beat too.

A fun night creating with great company is always a joy.

  13. I love those little Russian dolls! Do you happen to have a website for the directions? Or maybe you’ll do a post about the process sometime. I’m always looking for unique Christmas craft ideas.

Wow, you mow the lawn! Good for you!
