Pasta Carbonara ~

Head over to Mennonite Girls Can Cook for the recipe.

I’m happy to report my son got Katie and me off the couch last night and we walked over to the local high school and had some exercise. Mostly I walked while Katie and Josh did some jogging and running around the track. After the football squads ended their practices we played a little soccer. I managed to record 7245 steps.

I hope to get walking back into my normal routine. I have already changed up the way I eat and since June 12th I’ve manged to drop 13 pounds and boy does my body appreciate it. I’ve got another 10 pounds to lose before I shop for a Mother of the Bride dress.

About Ellen am a wife, mother, baba (grandmother) and a loyal friend. Jesus is my King and my hope is in my future with Him.

  1. Way to go Ellen – I’m still struggling with the extra weight I’ve picked up and know how hard it is to change the way you eat.

  2. Good for you! The wedding is a great incentive, isn’t it? I need to join you in getting back to walking–I’ve slacked off during the summer, which is the very best time to do it.

  3. Hi Ellen, although I read the MGCC blog almost everyday I very rarely comment but I can now relate to you. My daughter announced 2 weeks ago that she is getting married and they chose Dec 31 as the date so I too am trying to lose a few pounds and get exercising more before I buy the mother of the bride dress. Way to go on your accomplishments – eating less is not easy to do.

    • Bernice, It took me a year and a half to finally get serious about dropping some pounds. You have to hit the ground running with a December 31st date. I hope all the best for you and all the plans for the wedding…

  4. Impressive on your weight loss, Ellen! You can do it!!!

That dish looks delicious — Miss Baby is going through a picky phase right now where she absolutely refuses to touch eggs which are so good for her — your recipe might just be something I can use to “trick” her while she is eating her bows!!! Thanks. Will let you know how it goes…

  5. Way to go…Ellen, I think we all know about those few extra pounds that juggle with us at this stage….Once you are on a role…it starts doesn’t it. Looking forward to meeting up with the new YOU in October.
