FFF ~ Late Snow

It’s time to look back and choose favorites from the past week. Susanne at Living to Tell the Story is our hostess for this weekly event.

I’ll intersperse my Fave 5 amongst these snow shots. We had some late snow for our parts. It’s always a surprise around here and we get all worked up over an inch or two of snow. Last night some areas north of Seattle got 14 inches of snow which is unusual. One of the things that makes snow in the Seattle area very hard to deal with is our hilly terrain. We are not flat like Chicago!

1. Well since that’s our apple tree in the snow I’ll start my favorites with the fact that we finally got all our tree pruning done!

2. When it snows I tend to stock up and cook meals at home. Right now I’m smelling the great aroma of chicken cooking in my Crock pot.

3. Another favorite from this week was a telephone call from our son in Eastern Washington just to let us know they got another 10 inches of snow out at the cabin he’s living in. He also made arrangements for us to use some of his Marriott free nights at a hotel we’ll be staying at in Washington D.C. Thanks Dan!

4. My father passed out for no reason last Friday and ended up in the hospital for a couple nights. They tested him out for heart and brain issues and everything came back negative. The doctor thinks the problem was a medication issue and gave him instructions. He’s home and I’m glad it wasn’t something major. My mom was so cute she said “I tested the lonely life and it didn’t pass” That was after only one night without my dad at home. My dad also told us he didn’t need his Bible at the hospital because he just recited all the Psalms he’s memorized when he couldn’t sleep. I’m so thankful for my parents and the love they have for each other and all of us.

5. My Friday cleaning schedule is going well. I’m always thankful when I stick to a plan. It was also very satisfying to see my daughter thoroughly clean the main bathroom. It’s her bathroom for the most part so it’s her responsibility. She even cleaned out all the drawers, etc. Scary what she found in there. One of the funny things was that there was enough dental floss for a family of 25. I won’t even mention the retainers she found….

So what were your favorites this past week? I’ll be around really early before my cleaning schedule starts or late in the day to see your favorites.

Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

  1. Wow! All that snow–it really is unusual.
I’m so glad your dad is OK. I loved your mom’s comment 🙂 The lonely life for me wouldn’t pass either.
    Cleaning? Good for you!

  2. Well, the snow definitely wasn’t one of my favorite things! I finally got our driveway shoveled, sanded and salted so that I’ll be able to get down it tomorrow. My daughter texted from Seattle to say that she was glad to be warm in her hotel after a very chilly evening.

  3. I always tend to cook comfort food when it’s snowy outside, too. Nothing like a crockpot giving off yummy aromas to make it cozy.

I loved your mom’s comment! How cute! Glad your dad had nothing major wrong. And what a wise person to have those Psalms already memorized!

  4. My favorite things this week were a warm house, a cozy fire, a comfy sweater, warm conversations with family & friends…and borscht! Can you tell it’s cold over here?

Glad your dad is doing OK!

  5. I am so glad your dad is better and that nothing worse was going on. Love your mom’s comment.

    The snow gnome is cute.

Free hotel points are a blessing!

Had to smile at the floss — when we moved I discovered I don’t know how many tubes of off-brand Neosporin. With three boys in the house we had constant scrapes and such.

  6. Glad that your dad didn’t have anything bad going on … hope he gets the medication issues resolved so that won’t happen again. Loved your mom’s comment about the lonely life. How sweet.

Love the snow gnomes — which reminds me of Gnomeo & Juliet (which I can’t wait to see).

    Have a blessed weekend.

  7. I’m so glad your father is okay. What a sweet thing for your mother to say. There is so much in that sentence. The snow photos are beautiful. It’s so much nicer to look at than to shovel. 😉

  8. Looks like your getting quite a lot of snow for you guys. Not unusual for us, though. I like your pictures. Poor little garden gnome looks chilly. :v)

So glad to hear your Dad is okay. That is really scary when it happens. Your mom is so sweet.

  9. Love your snow pictures — they’re lovely!

Glad your dad is okay. That must have been scary. I love the fact that he didn’t need his Bible because he was quoting the Psalms. Just love it.

    Have a great week ahead!

  10. Ditto on the well wishes for your dad. Hope they get the medication issues ironed out without any more ill effects.

One of my favorites this week was a pasta night out with a friend. Peanut butter cheesecake was also a highlight.

  11. I hate it when I type a comment and it’s suddenly gone!
    Comment 2
I forget what I wrote in comment one.

I love Fridays on your blog.
We are having storms but you have snow to show for your storms!

I recently found an old retainer of mine, and it’s a whold lot older than Katie’s.

  12. It’s a good thing your dad is okay. Nothing nicer than the aromas of comfort food cooking on the stove or in a crock pot spreading through the house, mmmmm. I love the snow pictures, especially the garden gnomes!
