FFF ~ Fun in the Midst of Slumps…

Time to get your favorites together to share. Susanne at Living to Tell the Story is our hostess for this event. Click on over and see what events, products, people, books, made the list!

I shared earlier this week that I’m in a bloggy slump of sorts but even in the midst of slumpiness there are lots of good things around me. The Light always shines I just need to see it. So here are my favorites from this past week.
1. Soccer is my favorite sport in general but I have to say that the Seahawk football game against the Saints makes it on my favorites this week. Mostly because of this unbelievable run that you all probably have heard about already. The Seattle fans even made the Seismic charts.
Seattle is all a-buzz and on Sunday they’ll play the Chicago Bulls Bears to see if they keep their amazing run alive.
2. I’m happy to report that my big toe was not broken last week but just bruised badly so I was able to go to Zumba on Monday morning. I’m really enjoying this form of exercise and have met some fun ladies my age and younger who keep me going. Here’s how Zumba is described: “Zumba Fitness® is the only Latin-inspired dance-fitness program that blends red-hot international music, created by Grammy Award-winning producers, and contagious steps to form a “fitness-party” that is downright addictive”. At first I felt like I had 2 left feet but the routines are the same every time you go and before long you can do the steps automatically.
3. The blower/fan in our fireplace insert died. Dear had to take the whole thing apart to figure out what part we needed. We ordered it online because it wasn’t available locally. It finally arrived on Wednesday and Dear put it all back together and we now have heat in our living room area again. This is our 2nd major heat source so we were pretty chilly for a few days and cuddled up in the family room where our little cast iron stove kept us warm. I’m happy Dear could fix it for a fraction of the cost to replace it.  $150 instead of $1500. Now Dear thinks he should be able to buy himself something for $1350. There is something suspect in that reasoning…
4. Dear and I went to our local Mexican Restaurant this week and it was a great relaxing time with good conversation and debriefing on things that were on our minds this week. Sometimes it is just good to get out of the house so you aren’t a slave to your normal routines. We know the waitstaff by name here and they always make us feel welcomed. That’s Carne Asada and I’ll share the recipe closer to summer time on the Mennonite Girls Can Cook Blog.

5. Speaking of the Mennonite Girls, we’ve had fun news about our upcoming cookbook this week. A few weeks ago the cover was released. This is what the cover will look like. Some of the gals have been interviewed by their local papers and this week one of the T.V. stations in Canada is interviewing a couple of the gals on their Sunday show. We keep pinching ourselves. Our Royalties from the sale of the book will be going to an organization in the Ukraine that feeds children. You can click on the cover to see more information on the book.

Hope you are doing well. I’ll be coming around today or tomorrow to see your Faves…
Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

  1. I turned on the tv in our bedroom while I tried to wake up this morning. It was on an infomercial for Zumba…..I think I would die….I think I would be twenty steps behind….I think I would be laughing at myself so hard. It looks really fun and I LOVE to dance. BUT I think I’ll stick to water aerobics to get in a little better shape before I try it though. YAY for no broken toe and HEAT!!!!! abide away…

  2. Love your FF. No matter how blue we get, there’s always something to be thankful for.
That Zumba sounds like another form of line dancing. There are basic steps to learn however the sequence of steps is different for each song and that takes some mental calisthetics. It’s so much fun though. And it sure beats going to the gym as a form of exercise.

  3. Looking forward to getting the cookbook in my hands when it is sent to me.
Oh, my yes…watched the Seahawks game and indeed it was a great game.
I LOVE football…..Glad to see that the Seahawks did so well, NOW if they have to play the PACKERS….not so well…..I am a diehard PACKER fan….Always something to cheer about and watch when it is cold out.
Thanks for all your beautiful pictures.

  4. Now Ellen those are great ‘Fave Fives’. So glad your toe isn’t broken and you can still do zumba. And of course enjoy your warm living room once again. I smiled at your Dear’s thinking about the money he saved:)

  5. A warm living room is a true fave! That Mexican meal looks so yummy that I’m tempted to walk down to our local spot for dinner tonight 🙂

Doesn’t writing up the FFF make some of the blues blow away?

  6. Glad you are toasty warm! I say split the amt and each buy a present for yourselves! 🙂 I say that for you, here it would be no way!

Have a good week. You can tell I am sick with cabin fever as I am decorating Pom bottles! 🙂

  7. I want to find a Zumba class!

Don’t you lose those handy husbands? I have one of those.

So excited about the book. I know how exciting all these times are — cover, interviews, etc. And I LOVE the cover!!

    Have a great week!

  8. So I see you really are a sports fan! Glad you enjoyed our Auburn game, and the winning field goal by our soccer player. 🙂

We’ve been debating for months about either getting a blower or wood stove or something to replace our wood-burning fireplace. But I have sure loved the wood this week.

I love the cookbook cover! How fun. Have a great weekend.

  9. Good for you with Zumba – I couldn’t manage it with my heart. It’s a little vigorous – but I wished I could. It looked like fun. Although I was glad there were no men in the class – it’s a little too red hot 🙂

I love the MGCC cover – so lovely with aprons blowing on the line!! You must be so proud. What an accomplishment!

I think Dear is onto something with his math. You just need to think of some way you can work that out to your advantage. A trip maybe? 🙂

    Love and blessings,

  10. My sister started going to a Zumba class … she loves it, but I don’t think it would be my cup of tea.

I love the cover of the Mennonite Girls cookbook!

Isn’t it great when our husbands can fix things? Mine has saved us lots of money over the years – especially on car repairs.

  11. I’ve been to the web site and love it.

It is nice to be warm on a chilly evening. Great to save a little money at the same time. what is better is having a handy hubby

  12. I can’t wait until the MCC cookbook comes out and I love the cover, so cute! I’ve done Zumba before and I know what you are saying, not the easiest thing in the world, but its fun!

  13. did you see where my cousin (a Zumba instructor) was interviewed about Zumba? I love Zumba! I have to do it at home though.

    you don’t have central heat/air??

not so sure about Dear’s math there………
