Oh Canada!

Growing up I was immersed in a Russian Community that used cousin, aunt and uncle loosely. We always had more “relatives” then a proper genealogy record would prove. I just inherited 9 girl cousins from Canada. Our cousin connection comes from our love for each other, similar upbringing, blogging, and recipes that our ancestors brought out of Russia and Germany. I will be sharing the wonderful bonding experiences we had during our 3 days together soon.

Here are the Mennonite Girls (MGCC) minus me and I now know first hand they really can cook! Starting in the back, Judy from My Front Porch, Marg from Home Again, Lovella from What Matters Most, Julie from Pearls in A Nutshell, Betty,Ā  Anneliese from For Everything a Season, Bev from Kaleidoscopes, Kathy, and Charlotte.

Here’s the same photo with me in it. I borrowed it from one of my cousins who happened to post this same photo spot on her blog. Thanks Judy!

Thank you girls for all the good food, laughter, prayers, and fun we had! Till we meet again…

Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. Iā€™m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

  1. After watching the Olympics I just wanted to burst into song when I saw the title of your post. My hubby is Mennonite and I tease him that the county we live in is a bit inbred…..I’ve never heard of so many 3rd cousins. :o) I love to go to the Mennonite Relief Sale in Kansas…they have much more authentic OLD recipes that are amazing. Around here our relief sale is basically AMAZING bar-b-que….not enough “real” Mennonites to keep old recipes going. So I love the recipes shared on Mennonite Girls Can Cook.

  2. You made me smile with your description of “relatives”. It was the same for me. All my real aunts, uncles and cousins were back in Hungary so I gained some here through association. It’s so nice that you have a wonderful group of ladies with so much in common.

  3. I’ve read some of the posts and was drooling all over the keyboard! You ALL can cook! I have first hand experience with your cuisine so I know they were in good company.

  4. It’s fun to see you all together and the stories will make good reading!! What a treasure you have in each other!
When’s the wedding and where? How many “cousins” coming?
It’s a little bit of a push to keep the flowers..and do the work when I’m away from my work space. Large weddings are not easy due to limited space in the car.

  5. So you had a great time, eh? Just throwing in the ‘eh’ for a little bit of Canadjan, lol!! That’s wonderful to hear! That’s a great picture! What a blessing to have lots and lots of cousins!
