At the table in the kitchen, there were three bowls of porridge. Goldilocks was hungry. She tasted the porridge from the first bowl.
“This porridge is too hot!” she exclaimed.
So, she tasted the porridge from the second bowl.
“This porridge is too cold,” she said
So, she tasted the last bowl of porridge.
“Ahhh, this porridge is just right,” she said happily and she ate it all up.
I realize this is a leap but I thought of Goldilocks since we’ve been church shopping for the last few Sundays. When we moved back to Washington we knew we’d have to find a new church home to settle into. The church we’d attend when we flew back and forth was a little too hot for us. A great church with a fabulous ministry but just too hot for our comfort. (And you know it’s all about us…)
The second church we visited 3 Sundays to see if it was the right fit but the chair was too big and too old. The next church we tried today was very close to home and the chairs and the worship music were just right but we weren’t comfortable with some theology…
Soon we’ll find the place that’s just right and we’ll be able to start to use our gifts again to serve the Body of Christ. Until then just call me Goldilocks…
Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.
Will be praying for you on that, Ellen…. church-hunting takes time… 🙂
You’ll need to bleach your hair…
Yes, it does take time and prayer.
I had to giggle at Willow’s advice on your hair color 🙂
But I know that finding a church can be surprisingly difficult. Took me about three years.
I hope “just right” will be just that; not perfect, but a good fit for the two of you. At least you are not church shopping to check out single guys (like so many young women do) or to find a church with good nursery care. On the other hand, eventually we might need to consider good sound systems to hear well, a minimum of stairs to climb, and other aids for the aging!
I know a nice little church on PEI. With a cute pastor and his wife 🙂
What a comparison my friend. Love it and happy shopping 🙂
Thankful you have the One in whom we can trust for all timing and direction!
It’s tough to find that home, but you’ll know it when you find it!
lol nice analogie, i wouldn’t have thought of that, and yet it’s very fitting!
I’m smiling about this post…but I know it’s not a laughing matter! May you find the church that fits ‘just right’.
It’s so true isn’t it? You really do have to find the fit. .and you’ll know it when you do.
oh it’s such a hard place to be!
God bless your search till you find where HE wants you to be.
Praying you find the right, ‘home’ soon.
Yo Goldilocks! This is a very sad, but true situation. I know that the Lord has something just right for you and Dear and hopefully it’s very near…tee hee!!! OK, on a more serious note: I’ll keep you in prayer because I know how difficult it is to find the right church. But I also know that He will keep you safe while the search goes on ;-).
