Hi, Robins! Time for our new challenge! This one was suggested by Carly back in June 2008. The Round Robin Challenge for Saturday, March 27, is Up to Five Miles Away.
(5.0 miles = 8.04672 km.)
First I drove South. This was at 5.1 miles because I had to find a safe parking spot! This is a park in the city of Kirkland, Washington that is on the shore of Lake Washington. It was a cloudy morning…
Driving North for 5 miles I found “The Chicken” This is at Country Village in Bothell, Washington.
It really is wonderful to think about all these great destinations just 5 miles from my home. This was such a fun challenge because now I have a better handle on how many miles things are away from me.
Going East about 5 miles away brought me to 3 distinct watering holes. Ste Michelle Winery in a French Chateau setting. I would have had to have driven beyond the 5 mile mark to get photos of the chateau. Columbia Winery was visible from the street at the 5 mile mark and is directly across the street from Ste Michelle with a more Victorian architecture and then kiddy corner from both of these great wineries is your good ole roadside tavern!
This is the Columbia Winery in Woodinville.
Now if I would have gone to the 6 mile mark on this road it would have brought me to Redhook Brewery and then to the Herb Farm a renowned restaurant in Woodinville.
It will be fun to visit all you Robin’s and see what there is to see about 5 miles from your homes…

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.
The lakes is beautiful. The chicken made me laugh. And the winerys are stunning!
A fun challenge! I’m wondering what I would find 5 mi in each direction..
Hi!
Great shots! Love the chicken, really big! All that stuff to see just within 5 miles, Wow. Have a great day!

Tis I and I am still alive! How are you, my friend?
It looks like you’ve been having adventures galore not to far from the water’s shore. I’m sorry I just had to say that…;-).
That chicken is hilarious! We have a giant cow with a pink bow near our home and I think it’s just the cutest thing. You chicken and my cow would be great together…ha ha ha!
Washington is such a beautiful state with so much to see and do. What fun you must be having.
See you soon!

Now that’s a fun challenge…and you found lots of fun things within 5 miles.
You have me thinking…about what lies within five miles of me.
Great shots! My favorite is the chicken. Too funny!!
Hi Ellen b. 🙂
Gorgeous sights all around! I LOVE the chicken! LOL. He would bring me a smile I am sure. 🙂 I need to get up to Washington, it’s so much and green up there, and in that I love the rain, I know I would be right at home. 🙂 Simply stunning! 🙂

What a novel idea! I just may drive 5 miles in every direction and see what I find!
Very interesting! Now I have to figure out if JJ Brewski’s is exactly five miles from my house. Or one of the Starbuck’s…
I love that pink tree in the first photo. And the big chicken. Wasn’t this a fun challenge!
Hubby and I think you answered the question, “what happens if you cross a dalmation with a chicken?”!! LOL…that chicken definately gave us the grins. The other locations look like nice places to spend some time.
Very cool! I like the lake shore with the tree blossoms and cloud cover, the silly chicken and that last winery. Nice variety!
What a wonderful place, I especially love that last shot. Such a majestic place!
What a fun post. This makes me want to do this just to see what are my 5 mile vistas.
