Friday’s Fave Five ~ Tis the Season…

…for the beginning of MLS Soccer 2010!

I was so pleased to get my Season Ticket Holders 2010 Package. I’ll be sporting the new scarf to all the games. Last night was the season opener and my son, DIL and I went together. Our friends Beau and Bridget met up with us there, too.

And the best way to start a season off is with a win and I’m happy to say we beat Philadelphia 2-0! Way to go Sounders!

I just have to share one more photo from the game last night. This was a Seattle Motorcycle Policeman that we spotted during the “March to the Match” Love the fact that he’s sporting a Sounder’s Scarf!

And now to the other favorites!

~My pear tree blossoming.

~Strawberries being in season.

~ Duplicating at home the Fried Polenta in Creamy Gorgonzola and mushroom sauce that we had at Nell Thorn Restaurant in La Conner. I’ll share my recipe soon.

~ Making my mom’s rice with raisins. It’s been so long since I had made it and it was good to have that taste treat again. Recipe will be at the Mennonite Girls Can Cook Blog soon.

~ Finding a great purse at Goodwill, a $45.00 baggallini for $5.95. It was perfect for the Sounders game.

Now please visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story to join in with your favorites or to see more. Thank you Susanne!

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.

  1. Congrats to the Souners on the win! That purse is a real treasure–you always come away from those thrift stores with a great bargain. The pear tree looks so ‘springy’!

    Have a great weekend!

  2. oooh yes! We just got our first package of strawberries and I agree with you – that’s a very good thing to be thankful for!

The policeman with the scarf is rather cool and cute. =D

Hope you have a great weekend!

  3. A pear tree, hmmm. I have been trying to pick out a tree to plant in the front yard in front of my kitchen window…maybe a pear would work. I’ll have to look into that.

    Happy and blessed Friday, dear.

  4. Glad you enjoy your sports! I’m sure your husband is glad, too. 🙂 I’ve been enjoying March Madness NCAA basketball with my hubby. I can hardly wait for fresh strawberries here. Aren’t they the best when they’re fresh?

  5. I just started noticing the strawberries yesterday and I can’t wait to get some! There are so many yummy things you can do with them (including just eating them plain!)

  6. What a lovely list! I enjoyed looking at all your beautiful photos. Your purse was a great find. All the dishes look so yummy :).

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a wonderful weekend!

  7. Sounds like you had a fun night…You really have fresh strawberries…I’ll be expecting some on April 6th.
You got some great shots….Enjoyed them all.

  8. Love the photo of the policeman!

I’ve always said one of the first signs of spring is strawberries being in season, but I haven’t gotten any yet. Now I mus find some!!! 🙂

  9. Go Sounders! A great way to start the season!

A pear tree in your back yard? Lovely.

I’ll bet your kids are glad to have you back all the time!

  10. First day game fun! The policeman cracked me right up. Now that is a loyal fan! Soccer is not that big around here except for kids. I honestly can’t think of one professional Canadian team. I’m sure there is some but it’s not a big thing. Now hockey? And in our town rugby is getting big because the university girls are doing so well.

Perfect kind of purse for going to games. I have one similar that I throw in my suitcase and use when we go to theme parks or zoos, etc. Holds my wallet and camera, and a few other items and I’m good to go.

Looking forward to the recipe. I’ve always wanted to try polenta
