Friday’s Fave Five ~ October #3

It’s time for Friday’s Fave Five hosted by the lovely Susanne at Living to Tell the Story. Click over to join in. It’s a good exercise of looking back and remembering favorites, blessings, good things that have happened.

This has been a different kind of week for me and come to think of it the last 3 weeks have been “different”. I’m in the midst of changes to my usual routine around the condo and out and about. One major change that a psychologist could probably run with is the fact that I haven’t purchased anything from a thrift store in the last 3 weeks. Hmmm.  On to my favorites…

1. On Saturday I met up with 9 of the gals in my family for a tea. It wasn’t one of the best tea rooms we’ve been to but it was fun to get together and enjoy time together. And yes I did have a hat on most of the time till it fell off…that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

2. I’ve challenged myself to get moving every day instead of just the day Willow and I can get together for our walk. It has felt good to get out at 7:00 three days a week to get my heart rate going before breakfast. The other 3 days I’m trying a simple weight training routine with dumb bells.

3. There used to be a huge dirt and weed filled area behind our condominium complex. It is now a Sports Complex with 4 baseball diamonds and several full soccer fields with lots of parking and restrooms, etc. This week they laid all the grass and it will be nice to have less dust flying around here. I’m waiting for the complex to be opened up so I can get some better photos.

4. Yippee our Seattle Sounders won their game against Kansas City on Saturday so we are in the playoffs. I might even be able to go to a playoff game since it sounds like at least one of the games will be in the L.A. area and better yet my kids might come down here for that game!

5. I’m excited that my oldest son and I made arrangements this week to go to my middle son’s graduation from Academy the end of November. It wasn’t easy to find flights to get to this little town out in the middle of nowhere. I was sad that no one would be there to see Dan graduate and am relieved now that it is possible. God is good.

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.

About Ellen am a wife, mother, baba (grandmother) and a loyal friend. Jesus is my King and my hope is in my future with Him.

  1. LOL…I’m so not into this sport of your Sounders that I had to stop and think about what sport it was that you beat us in….well done! Glad you get to go to your son’s graduation….that would be hard to miss. And I”m just wondering if you’ve been feeling slightly OFF with your shopping withdrawal…. :o) Have a grand weekend….I’m trying to work up the courage to go for my walk…I’ve been making myself go for about an hour….but it turned COLD last night….I’m not even sure if it’s in the 40’s. Maybe I’ll park my car at our local coffee shop and when I’m done being a good girl I can get a Hazelnut Toffee Mocha to warm up… :o) WORKS FOR ME!

  2. So glad that you found flights for the graduation. That would have made me sad too.

You’re slipping Ellen. Not one purchase at a goodwill or thrift store? ;v) You’ll have to make up for that somehow.

  3. Ellen, I feel your pain, I haven’t been to a yard sale or thrift store in almost a month! I must remedy that soon.

Love the picture of the soccer players – the colors are so vibrant!

I also like the picture of you and your family out for tea – wearing hats! Not sure if I could convince my crew to do that or not …

  4. “Different” weeks can be interesting. The tea looks like such a fun time. Good for you to be exercising regularly. It always makes me feel better, too.

So glad you were able to get tickets for your son’s graduation! Woo-hoo!

  5. I’m sure you will make up for your thrifting hiatus! It’s great that you are able to get out and enjoy our cool fall mornings. Working off the scrumptious tea things? Happy weekend, Ellen.

  6. How wonderful that you were able to make it to the graduation, and that you are able to get out to walk and exercise. I know it makes me feel a lot healthier!

  7. I was gonna say where is your hat? I love that photo. What a great week you had. That’s a wonderful photo of you and your son. Congrats to the Seattle Sounders. Have a great weekend 🙂

  8. Your outing with the “girls” is fun to look in on! Your hat…hmmm..maybe you could find one you like at the thrift store?
Good walking this week and such a nice new field behind your place!
Have a good trip to celebrate your son’s grad!

  9. Hi Ellen B.,

I was wondering about the hat and had I known you were headed there I would have said, “Find some place else ;-O.” Oh Sorry!

I’m curious about the picture in the post below…is that a B&B in Port Townsend? It looks very familiar.

Any who, you had asked about the person at the end of my post. It was my little brother whose birthday would have been today. For some reason Fanghorn’s words just seemed to fit. The pictures were from the Italian garden at Hatley Park.

Congratulations to your son…God is good indeed!!!!

    xoxo Cori G.

  10. I’m sure that your story about the hat is the absolute truth. How did you get it to fall off so quickly?

I think I should hear more about your exercise plan. Let’s talk!

  11. Good for you on exercising every day! You do have some beautiful scenery to look at as you walk!

The tea party looks like great fun! Love the collection of tea pots in the background.

Yay for being able to go to a son’s graduation! I’m sure that will be special to him.
