It’s Mostly About Food Glorious Food…

So here we are at the end of another week looking back at some favorites we all experienced. Susanne at Living to Tell the Story is the hostess for this weekly event.

Funny but most of my favorites this week are food, food, food. It’s a wonder I can still fit into some of my clothes.

1. Oh how I love it when the Fresh from the fields Strawberry Stands open in Southern California. I got a box from my favorite stand this week and they were so fresh and delicious…

2. My family really enjoys artichokes! I made some for my kids when I was in Seattle and decided to treat Dear and I to some when I got back to Southern California. Oh so good! Dear likes to dip his in traditional Mayonnaise. I like to dip mine very gingerly into Ranch dressing. My kids like to dip them into Italian dressing.

3. A new favorite I’ve bought a couple times now from Trader Joe’s is their Chimichurri Rice with Vegetables. Oh how I love the flavor of this dish and the spicy zing!  We had it as a side with our Barbecued Salmon last night and my taste buds were so happy.

4. When I was at Costco this week I was excited to see Clam Chowder in their frozen section from The Splash Cafe in Pismo Beach. Dear and I had some at the cafe when we were in Pismo Beach and this brought back some good memories. I couldn’t resist and bought some for a meal soon.

5. The last item is not food. I have been looking for a container of some sort to put my different tea-bags in so I don’t have to open 6 boxes every time I’m serving tea for Bible Study. I found this cute ceramic napkin holder at T.J. Maxx that works just right for me!

Ok I have an extra favorite and it’s not food!

I have really enjoyed The Cottage Tales of Beatrix Potter series by Susan Wittig Albert! The library found me the latest in series and I’m excited to read it.

Photobucket is holding all my photos I stored with them from 2007-2015 hostage unless I pay them a lot of money. I’m slowly cleaning up many posts from this time period and deleting their ugly grey and black boxes with a ransom request. Such a time consuming bother.

  1. Okay, you have me absolutely drooling now! Everything sounds soooo good. I love artichoke hearts but have never eaten then like you have pictured or dipped them. I’ve always just bought them in the jar. I can hardly wait for strawberry season here. Our favorite way is to eat them is “Bavarian” where you dip them in sour cream and then in brown sugar. Needless to say we don’t eat them that way very often but at least once a year we have a nice treat of them like that.

  2. I had to read this post BEFORE breakfast while I’m waiting to go to the lab for blood tests. That is not fair (oh, wait, I could have not looked at the photos).

As we whizzed past Pismo Sunday, I thought, ‘Clam chowder; what was the name of that restaurant?’

  3. Ellen, I could have sat to eat with at every turn this week and would have been a happy girl. . all those things look ever so yummy. I was watching a cooking show this week were they put cheese over the artichoke to bake and then the cheese melted down . .and oh it looked scrumptious. .
Happy Birthday .. how many days can I say that?

  4. I really *really* need to learn how to make artichokes… seriously, i have a tray of them in my fridge right now and i haven’t a clue how to prepare them. or eat them for that matter. guess i’d better get a’googlin’, eh? 😉

  5. Mmmm, that rice sounds terrific! I’ve tried some of Trader Joe’s frozen foods before and have generally been disappointed — but I’m willing to give this one a try.

  6. I have never had an artichoke … but definitely love strawberries! Here where I live it will be another couple months before the stands will open. I love the teabag holder!

  7. Oh I was just coming over to see you and you got to me first!
So I’ll say again HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLEN B.!
Are you doing something fun tomorrow for your Birthday? I certainly hope so and I’m sure it will involve food. By the way, your strawberries look so juicy and sweet. Do you ever wake to the smell of strawberries wafting on the breeze? Some mornings that’s all I smell…so wonderful!

Ellen B. you are a doll and I’m glad you’re my friend too. Not just in the bloggy world, but the real. Have a wonderful time celebrating!!!!!

  8. Strawberries, ah. I don’t think I have seen any stands open here yet. Maybe I should make a trip to the farmers market. I love Trader Joes. I’ll try the rice, thanks for the tip.

It’s almost your birthday, a few more hours. Tick Tock.
