“But I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child – a direct killing of the innocent child – murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love, and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts. Jesus gave even his life to love us. So the mother who is thinking of abortion, should be helped to love – that is, to give until it hurts her plans, or her free time, to respect the life of her child. The father of that child, whoever he is, must also give until it hurts. By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems. And by abortion, the father is told that he does not have to take any responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world. That father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So abortion just leads to more abortion. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. That is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion. ”
~ Mother Theresa
Today as a woman I cannot stay silent on this issue. I agree wholeheartedly with Mother Theresa! My choice is to speak up now and stop sticking my head in the sand on this issue. And yes, this one issue is what will determine who I vote for on Tuesday…
Amen
Word! I love you and your soft spot on this subject! Blessings on your head dear sister!
Mandy says WORD – Preach it sister!
That Mother Theresa was a very wise, very powerful little lady! Amen!
“Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want.”
That is scary.
I love those pictures you included at the top! You have such a lovely family.
Praise God. Ellen, I just got goosebumps when I read what Mother Teresa said.
The pictures you posted are so beautiful. .and with new grands, my heart just breaks thinking of babies being unwanted and killed.
Love that quote and AMEN! This particular issue has been heavy on my heart lately, knowing how the baby inside of me is developing and at the same time so many babies that are just like mine are being killed 😦 It absolutely breaks my heart, I cry just thinking about it.
Again, I say AMEN!!
Bravo, Ellen! Abortion is the single issue that I vote on. If a candidate can’t get the morality of that issue right there is no hope of any morality on any other issue.
I love everything that she said and completely agree with it. I cannot understand the silent position that the church as taken on this.
Amen and Amen! I agree wholeheartedly and we feel/vote the same way.
Thank you for saying this and speaking up.
Thank you, Ellen, for posting that quote and speaking up.
Ellen, You know I agree and say Amen and Amen! I am so thankful that we have Mother Teresa’s words to encourage us.
Ellen, Thank you. I can’t tell you how much your post has encouraged me both to read someone with sense and moral understanding, and to read the comments of others who recognize the value of human life and the true nature of abortion. It is utterly evil. The most accurate indicator of the character of a nation is the way it treats its most vulnerable. I will only vote for life.
AMEN SISTER!
pray hard, pray often, pray loud!
Amen and Amen.
Thanks Ellen..and all the lovely blogging friends for their comments too. I will say Amen to that too!
