(Scarecrow)
I could wile away the hours
Conferrin’ with the flowers
Consultin’ with the rain
And my head I’d be scratchin’
While my thoughts were busy hatchin’
If I only had a brain
I’d unravel any riddle
For any individ’le
In trouble or in pain
(Dorothy)
With the thoughts you’d be thinkin’
You could be another Lincoln
If you only had a brain
(Scarecrow)
Oh, I would tell you why
The ocean’s near the shore
I could think of things I never thunk before
And then I’d sit and think some more
I would not be just a nuffin’
My head all full of stuffin’
My heart all full of pain
I would dance and be merry
Life would be a ding-a-derry
If I only had a brain
This pretty much covers how I’m feeling today! We got in at 11:00 last night after a day of working our buns off and getting everything wrapped up in Washington. It will take me a little bit to get back to “me old self”. Have a wonderful last day of September everyone. May Fall truly be felt here in Southern California!
Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage on their site. All my photos that I stored and uploaded from that site are now big ugly black and grey boxes with a message to pay big bucks to get them restored to my blog. It will take me a long time to restore thousands of posts.
Welcome home. Thanks for the nifty scarecrow and song.
Funny thing… my son played the Scarecrow in his 5th grade class’s production of The Wizard of Oz… but the folks who adapted it “modernized” the script and shortened it a good bit so it was manageable for elementary students. Or maybe they just did that to get out of having to buy the rights to the music. Either way, that show was at least partially responsible for Bryan taking his musical talent and actually doing something with it. He’s currently a Music Ed major in his junior year… from such humble beginnings, eh?
And, uh, yeah… I’m a huge hockey fan. What gave me away?
Oh, please, some fall. We are still in high temps here in Nuevo. I’m hoping we get into the 70’s by the end of the week. (Not likely)
love that song, thanks for the lyrics as I can never seem to remember them all….but then I guess I could….if I only had a brain!
Handsome scarecrow 🙂 Hope you’re feeling rested soon!
Hi Ellen, welcome back to SoCal! We actually enjoyed a touch of rain, lightening and thunder yesterday….it’s all gone today.
Enjoy the last day of September. Hope your brain revives real soon – I’m sure it will.
Hahaha – Ellen, love your sense of humor! 🙂 I thought for sure you had shown the straw man to show your fall decorations! I hope you get some quality rest this week to recuperate from your fun trip to Seattle.
Blessings!
Oh he is so cute! Is he keeping watch on your front porch in Washington?
I hope you have a wonderful restful day Ellen B.
🙂 Cori G.
Do have a good week and time to catch up with yourself!
I have looked back over your past several days and find so many pretty things to see. The flowers are bright and Fall like…your scarecrow is a perfect reminder of the season, too! Your family time is always nice to view and so is your collection of Beatrix Potter figuerines! I love the cat!!
Great idea to post the song with your scarecrow. You gave me a smile. Take care.
I can relate to that too. I always loved the scarecrow. Good luck settling back in and Happy end of September.
You are so sweet, Ellen! 🙂 My day has gone well so far — I finished a quilt block to enter into a block challenge. It is drying right now – I hope it dries in time for me to do a post tonight!
Oh I love your post! The scarecrow was my favorite in the Wisard Of Oz. I love that song.
Cute
LOL! Cute!

What a delightful scarecrow. I do wish Fall would be truly felt here. I don’t know how hot it is there, but it’s way too hot here in San Diego.
