Thankful Thursday ~ Prayer Request

Update: Josh was released from the hospital late last night after a CAT Scan and being monitored for a few hours. They believe he had a TIA. He will be having a follow-up and two more tests in the near future. THANK YOU so much for all your prayers. It is so GOOD to be covered. We have no idea what is wrought by our prayers. Things we might not see here or understand. Never believe the lie that your prayers are unimportant! Blessings on all of you.

While I’m writing this post our firstborn Josh is at the ER in Tacoma, Washington because of an episode of aphasia. His wife Laura is there with him. We’re waiting to hear about his examination and if anything serious presents itself. He and Laura were in Tacoma today attending the funeral of Laura’s new sister-in-law’s mother.  It’s times like these that it makes it so hard being 1200 miles away. So what do I thank God for today.

I thank Him that He loves Josh and Laura and has redeemed them for His own.

I thank Him that He is surrounding them with His love and comfort right now.

I thank Him that our other son Dan and daughter Katie are driving to Tacoma to keep Laura and Josh company at the hospital.

I thank Him that Josh and Laura have been at the side of Laura’s brother and his new wife as they grieve over the sudden death of this new wife’s mother and they were at the funeral today lending support.  (Tacoma is approximately an hour’s drive from their and our homes in Washington).

I thank Him that as soon as I told one member of my family everyone was called and asked to pray! That’s a lot of prayer warriors!

I thank Him that now my bloggy friends will be praying, too.

Pray that this mommy’s heart would be still and trust in Her loving God and Savior. (Pray for the dad, too…)

Psalm 145: 1-10 ~

I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever.

Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever.

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.

One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts.

They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works.

They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds.

They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.

The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.

All you have made will praise you, O Lord; your saints will extol you.

Moisi and Nadia ~ Celebrating 64 Years of Marriage!

  Because Thursday is my parents’ 64th wedding anniversary my thankful post is all about them…

Moisi and Nadia Bagdanov

Moisi and Nadia Bagdanov were married on Friday September 13, 1943 in Tehran, Iran.

My parents have been a wonderful Godly example to their children and community. They are still very much in love.  I thank God for bringing them together, giving them the vision to come to the U.S., and for showing me in word and deed what it means to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. Today I’m overflowing with thankfulness for God’s gift to me in my dear parents!

A very Happy Anniversary to you Mom and Pop!

 I’m off early on Thursday to Orange County to take my parents out to breakfast for their anniversary and then we are all headed to a funeral at 1 P.M. for an old family friend. We rejoice with those who rejoice and we weep with those who weep. This really is life on this earth for us. We’re thankful to be able to share the joy in the midst of the sorrow because our friend has laid aside his armor and he is finished with the battle…

Thankful Thursday ~ Faithful One

James 1: 16-17 ~

 “Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Hebrews 13: 8 ~

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

I am thankful that our God does not change, He has no variation like shifting shadows, He is dependable and He is faithful.

Thankful Thursday ~ Psalm 100

  Psalm 100

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever, his faithfulness continues through all generations.

I am praising and thanking God that I am experiencing His love and care by being with my children and closest friends these two weeks in Washington. I am basking in the goodness of it all! Praise God from whom all blessings flow…

Thankful Thursday ~

I am so thankful to God that Dear and I fly to Seattle on Friday and spend a couple weeks with our children. It will be so nice to see them face to face and give them all a big hug. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Thankful Thursday ~ I Chronicles 16:8-12

 

 

Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced, …”

One of the miracles that the Lord has done in my life is leading my Father and Mother out of Iran (Persia back then) to the U.S.A. This was before my Father was a believer but God’s hand was on him in a mighty way leading my Father to himself. My Mother was a believer when she married my Father. I am so thankful to God for His hand of mercy that gave my parents the desire to immigrate to the U.S. In 1963, fifteen years after immigrating to the states, my Father became a believer at the Billy Graham Crusade in Los Angeles. I am remembering and thanking God for His amazing grace in my Fathers life and the benefits of that grace to me…

Thank you Lord for all you’ve done. I will sing praises to you and rejoice. I will look to you for strength and seek your face always. I will remember the wonderful things you have done. Glory to your holy name. Amen.

Thankful Thursday ~ Romans 12:15

 

Romans 12:15 (ESV)

 “Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.”

My family has been taught by the example of our parents to always be ready to go where you are needed. My mother and father are the first ones at the hospital when someone takes ill. They are the ones that go to the house to grieve with the family members after a loved one dies. They care for the elderly (and they are elderly themselves) when they have to go into a care facility. Over the last several weeks my father and mother have visited a dying member of their church in a care facility one to two times a day. This is a sole surviving spinster with no family at all to care for her. My father will make all her funeral arrangements and make sure there’s a nice service for her. *We just got the news that this dear believer died last night and my father and mother are on their way right now to the funeral home to make the arrangements for her burial. Please pray for strength and stamina for my parents. I can’t tell you the number of funeral arrangements they have walked friends and family through. Today I am so thankful for them, their example and my youngest brother and his wife who seem to be stepping into my parents shoes with this wonderful service to people. This extends to the hurting and the rejoicing. My brother will fly to weddings, funerals, and special celebrations way more than the average Joe. I am so thankful today for the example in the flesh of those who rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep!

Thankful Thursday ~ Various Gifts

 

Romans 12: 3-13 (ESV)

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think but to think with sober judgement, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy in proportion to our faith; if service in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.

 

I am thankful for these and others whom God has put in my life that have used their gifts at various times and in various ways that have taught me, encouraged me, corrected me, served me, forgiven me, and blessed me. Thank you Lord for the model you have given us on how the Body of Christ can function with each one helping the other serving you to the measure of their faith. Thank you for your great mercy and love toward us…
