What Dear Did On His Summer Vacation ~

Dear’s company shuts down the week of July 4th so this was a free week off for him. While in Washington he was very busy cleaning out our garage. He and our son Dan took 700 lbs. of junk stuff to the dump. They cleared out and reorganized the garage.  For the first time since we’ve lived in this house we can park 3 cars in our upper garage.

Beautiful! Now this next collage shows you our Toyota Car Museum.

When my car goes back to California in August our son’s truck will take over my spot and our garage will become more diversified since his truck is a Ford.

Below this Garage is a shop where 3 vehicles that are being worked on are stored and a few motorcycles. Makes me feel a little better about all the dishes I own. Not that it’s a competition or anything…

The Wedding ~ Tim and Jessica

What a wonderful ceremony and reception to celebrate the marriage of my nephew Tim to his beautiful bride Jessica.

My Grand Nephew Jackson was the Ring Bearer and he was perfect!

He walked carefully and looked oh so like a little prince.

Jessica was a stunning Bride.

The Groom, my nephew Tim, with his brothers and family. Tim is the one on the left in the upper photo. That’s his brother Levi with him. My brother Steve’s family is excited to finally have another woman in the group. The boys are happy to have a sister.

So much fun to see all the cousins together having a good time.

The Sisters, Vera, Lana, Ellen, and Kathy

The happy newlyweds. My nephew Tim…if he thinks he needs a drink now, just wait! No worries that’s only Martinelli’s and he really didn’t seemed stressed with all the excitement around him.

My married kids! Hard to believe they’ve almost been married 7 years!

My parents, Tim’s paternal grandparents at the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. See that last photo of my dad hugging Tim and Jessica, he decided it was time to take my mom home because she was tired so he walked right up to Tim and Jessica while they were having their first dance to give them a kiss and hug goodbye. He doesn’t really understand the concept of the first dance, since none of his children danced at their weddings. It was a kodak moment and all of us kids were belly laughing. Such a Moisi moment!!

Here’s my extended family minus 10 who were not at the wedding.

At the end of such a long eventful day we were all ready to go to sleep just like our Princess Hope.

Up To The Rehearsal Dinner and Beyond…

Praise God from whom all blessings flow everything came together beautifully for the Rehearsal Dinner. We served Brisket, Barbecued Chicken, Pasta Salad, Potato Salad, Barbecue Beans, Fruit Skewers and Rolls. For dessert we had assorted goodies, Nazook, Bite size Brownies, Madelines, Scones, and Bite size blueberry muffins. The picture above is Dear loading the Barbecue to take to the Bride’s house where we were having the rehearsal dinner.

It was so much fun to have everyone chipping in to help make this a night to remember.

Don’t ask, we don’t know what my nephew Levi had in mind when he put Jackson on Josh’s shoulders here but Jackson sure is intent on reaching up to the sky. Jackson is my Grandnephew and He was the Ring bearer at the wedding. And while we are on the subject of our Prince Jackson, here is a collage of our Princess, my new niece Hope!

She is 5 months old now and really got loved on during all our family gatherings surrounding the wedding. She lives in Dallas with her mom and dad so this was the first time most of her cousins and Aunts and Uncles got to meet her.

We know how to cram fun into a weekend people. On Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. we met our dear friends from Seattle, Dave and Jody, for a walk at Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura. We met Dave and Jody 23 years ago in Ventura at Bible Fellowship Church and we’ve been great friends ever since. They live in the Seattle area now, too, and were down in Ventura for a medical function at Ventura County Hospital. Even though the wedding was later in the day we were thrilled to be able to have an hour to walk and talk with them.

On Saturday after our walk with Dave and Jody we met part of the family and wedding party at Brent’s deli for brunch/lunch. There were 20 of us enjoying good Jewish Deli food. Pastrami on Rye, Matzo Ball soup, kosher pickles, lox and bagels…

Look at the size of that Matzo ball in that soup! We really had a good time here and it was great to see the groom, our nephew Tim, before the wedding.

On the way home from brunch we fit in a little shopping trip to the Camarillo Outlet Mall. We hit Banana Republic, Puma, and Betsy Johnson where Katie tried on this fun coat.

We made it home in plenty of time to get all dressed up for the Main Event. Tomorrow or Wednesday I hope to post the Wedding photos.

Getting Ready

My front porch plants were just sitting on the concrete floor so Dear suggested I look for a plant stand. Don’t have to suggest to me twice to shop for something we need want. So on my way to buy replacement batteries for our garage door openers I went to Ross and found this Plant stand that folds up!

I love the details on the metal. It was Tuesday so they give us older gals an extra 10% off! Sweet!

Now my three plants are nice and tidy and up off the concrete.

On the shopping note we are getting ready for a big Bagdanov family weekend. My nephew Tim is getting married to Jessica a week from this Saturday. Since we are going to cram a few extra bodies into our condo for part of the week I went in search of an extra aero bed. We have a queen size one and we’re adding a twin size one.

We are very pleased with this product!

Got some jersey sheets that were on sale to go with the bed…

Our son and his wife are flying in on Tuesday night and our daughter and brother’s family are flying in on Thursday. Family Day at Disneyland is planned for Thursday for whoever is here. It will be interesting to see when I can fit in some blogging as I’m also in charge of catering the Rehearsal dinner. I’ve got lots of help for that but it takes a lot of creative mind effort to pull it off. My family is wonderful at pulling together and making an event happen so I’m not concerned. If I don’t get around like usual you will all understand why…

Snatched from Deena!

Because I love to see my kids I snatched this from Deena’s blog. I’m going right over there to her blog to confess right now. And while I’m in a snatching mood here they are at the Woodland Park Zoo.

The Bridal Shower

My extended family came together to host a bridal shower for our future niece, cousin, granddaughter. June 28th is the wedding day. I put together some photos from the event. Good food, Fellowship, and blessings all around. A lovely colorful afternoon.

Can you guess the color scheme we chose for the shower? Yep, lavender, green, and cream.

I’m happy to say the fondant cake turned out and if the fondant had been fresher (confession time: I had this box of fondant in my cupboard for over a year) it would have been easier to work with and a lot more pliable. I will try fondant again, fresh fondant.

We had savory blintzes filled with chicken and broccoli, tabbouleh, fruit salad, Italian Wedding cookies, and Kefili cookies filled with apricot and plum jam. My mom made the cookies. The Kefili are one of her russian recipes. Growing up we had a great Italian friend living across the street, Lucille. She always made these Italian wedding cookies for showers and weddings. My mom hunted down her recipe to make them for this shower.

Jessica ~ Jessica and her mom, Connie ~ Jessica with Kelly (my Sil) and Kelly’s mom, Lynn ~ Jessica with my mother.

My niece Michelle getting the Mojito Punch ready. We love details, so my niece Melissa made ice-cubes with mint in them. That’s my niece Debbee in the kitchen. Sadly the Mojito Punch was virgin (no rum), but it was very good and refreshing.

Speaking of nieces, here they are ~ Jessica, Michelle, Debbee, and Melissa.

Details, details, we placed sprigs of lavender on each of the blintzes.

My sister Kathy had these great vintage snack trays that we used for the food.

I love this photo of my mom.

The shower was wonderful. We ended up making each other cry (a good cry). Don’t you think that sometimes if there are tears that are shed we are being real with each other? We thanked God and prayed for Jessica and Tim and prayed for all of us. We wanted to give God the honor for all He has done for our family and friends.

I was exhausted but happy that everything came together well. I had left my condo at 9:30 am and returned at 8:30 pm. 181 miles round-trip. Today I’m a little brain dead. I hope to get around and see what you are all up to sometime today after I empty my trunk and put everything away…

Sisters and Daughters

Our weekend in Seattle has been wonderful. Yesterday the girls had an afternoon out.  My sister Lana at Above the Clouds has 3 beautiful collages that capture some of the beauty of our day.

The Queen Mary Tea Room

The Japanese Gardens

We’re wrapping up our extended weekend in Seattle. We fly back to L.A. this evening. I’ll be posting more photos from the weekend after I get back to the condo in Southern California. Have a great Monday!

Our New Princess

Our daughter Katie was the princess, the youngest grand-daughter and niece on my side of the family for 22 years. She was usurped this year in her reign by our new little niece and princess, Hope. Katie has given up her throne willingly for this sweet new cousin. Once they meet I’m sure they’ll love each other more and more…

Here we are meeting for the first time. Look she’s smiling. I think she likes us.

Boy all these new fangled toys they have these days. She really got them whirling!

In the Baby Bjorn with daddy. I love when she screws up her forehead, sets her eyebrows and really looks serious.

We got to witness her baby dedication. Here she is in the very same dress her mommy wore.

At the dedication service with mom and dad.

She had quite the long day and is ready to escape to dreamland…

Recovering from a Fun Weekend

All the travel fun and time we spent in Dallas this last weekend has zapped all the creativity from my brain. I’m blah, blah, blah. I’m sure I’ll recover soon and then I’ll post the wonderful photos. I got permission to post photos of the “one who it’s all about”, our precious little niece. I’ll leave you with this shot and a promise of more to come plus some classic Texas shots soon!!

Have a great day y’all!
