Blue Monday ~ Creamer

Welcome to Blue Monday! Visit our hostess Smiling Sally to join in or to see more blue from around the sphere!

When I was at Goodwill this last week I found this cute little creamer and couldn’t leave without it .  It says Williamsburg on the bottom…

Happy Monday everyone!

Blue Monday ~ 2nd Time Around Tuesday…

Every Monday Smiling Sally is our hostess for Blue Monday. Do you have something blue to share? Click over to Sally’s and join in on the fun. On Tuesdays Diane at A Picture is Worth a 1,000 Words is the hostess of 2nd Time Around. This post qualifies for both this week!

For Blue Monday I wanted to show you one of my favorite Goodwill stores in the state of Washington. This is where I have found so many of my blue goodies over the years. Every time I’m back at my home in Washington I make sure to take a shopping trip here. This is only a very small sampling of the rows of goodies they have. I’m not showing you the clothing sections, book section, furniture section, shoe section, and linen section!! Here are just a few of the thrifty blue items I’ve purchased to be used the 2nd Time Around…

Have a great Monday enjoying blue everyone…

And an early Happy Tuesday to 2nd Time Around!

Blue Monday ~ Peacocks

Happy Blue Monday

When I drive across Los Angeles to visit my parents I always stop at the Target in Norwalk which is at the exit I take to get to their place. I stop because the trip is long, I’ve given birth to 3 children and this is a convenient spot to stop if you catch my drift. The unusual thing about this Target is what I’ve seen and heard in their parking lot more than once…

There is a really cool old farmhouse next door and peacocks that live behind the farmhouse. They hop the fence and stroll about the Target parking lot from time to time making their annoying loud calls.

I kept asking this guy if he’d kindly fan his feathers but he was not impressed with me and didn’t feel the need to show-off!

I’m always fascinated to watch these beautiful creatures with their iridescent feathers.

Blue Monday is hosted by Smiling Sally who hails from Florida. If you’d like to see more blue or to join in please click here.

Blue Monday ~ Seattle

Welcome to Blue Monday. This fun weekly event is hosted by the very good humored Smiling Sally.

My blue this week is brought to you from Downtown Seattle in the State of Washington.

I managed to get Dear away from all his projects at our home in Washington to have some lunch and a wee stroll downtown. See that building in the top left that looks like a tube of Ban Roll-on? That’s where Dear worked in Seattle for 7 years. We are back in Southern California tonight in our little condo where the projects are few. Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Blue Monday Recap~

The word of the day is slow. I’m waking up slow, moving slow, and my brain is a bit slow. So much fun activity for the last 3 days has taken its toll on this good ole girl. So here’s a little blue and a little recap of some of our wonderful Easter…

My son Josh took me to the Seattle Sounders FC soccer game against the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday night. It was so much fun to join in on the parade to the stadium with the Sounders marching band and experience the excitement in the air. Josh has Season Tickets and usually my son Dan attends with him but Dan let me go in his place and gave me his scarf to wear with the instructions not to lose it! Fun times. I’m a big soccer fan and it was fun to see the Sounders in person even though they suffered their first loss of the season…

We had a wonderful Resurrection Day. We all went to the 9:00 am service together and heard and felt the power of the gospel. Afterwards we came home for brunch. Dear made his famous Swedish Pancakes which are a favorite at our house. We had our traditional Russian Easter Bread (Kulich) with Seerney Paska (a sweet yummy cheese spread). I used a plastic flower pot to form the cheese this year and I liked the result. Our Russian Easter greeting was repeated the traditional 3 times! Then on to the present day tradition…a little rock band family fun!

I’m going slow and easy today recuperating and getting back on my usual track. Hope all of you had a good weekend.

Blue Monday ~ My Blue Crystal Cross

Welcome to Blue Monday and Holy Week in the world and on my Blog. This is a cross necklace I’ve had for a few years that I enjoy wearing.

The Beauty of the Cross (Crystal Lewis)

King of my life I crown You now
You’re the ruler of my heart
I will wear it loud
I will tell the whole world about You
You died in my place
You suffered all for me
Just so I could live
You were broken and bruised
And I will tell the whole world about You

The cross, stained by blood
The beauty of the cross
Healing for the lost
The cross, stained by blood
The beauty of the cross
Healing for the lost
The cross

King of my life I crown You now
You’re healer I’ve longed for
Now of heaven I’m sure
And I will tell the whole world about You

Thorns on Your brow
Stripes on Your back
So innocent, You did it all for me
Nails in Your hands
Nails in Your feet
Sword in Your side, You did it all for me
You paid the cost
That’s the beauty of the cross

~ Crystal Lewis

I just noticed when uploading my photos that I’m missing a crystal out of my cross pendant. Will have to repair that soon :0)

Have a wonderful Monday everyone and visit our hostess Sally to see more posts about Blue!

Metamorphosis/Blue Monday ~ Master Bedding

This week I’m combining Metamorphosis Monday with Blue Monday. Our bedding in our Master Bedroom was getting very tired looking and we found a pattern that both Dear and I could live with. Since the new bedding is mostly blue and green it made perfect sense to combine our two Monday events. I appreciate Susan at Between Naps on the Porch and Sally at Smiling Sally for their gracious hosting of these fun events each week.

Before…

A buttery yellow duvet cover and slightly lighter dust ruffle. Green and yellow accent pillows.

After….

When I first started looking for a new fresh look I was really discouraged at what I found especially the prices. I just couldn’t justify spending $249.00 for a Duvet set. We found this April Cornell Duvet Cover with two shams at Home Goods for $34.95. Now that’s what I’m talking about! Then at a different HomeGoods I found an April Cornell green sheet set with pillowcases for $29.95. The dust ruffle was $14.95.

Now I was on the search for some throw pillows to finish off the look. Again I couldn’t justify spending $20.00 to $50.00 a pillow. On Friday I made a special trip to the Ventura Main Street Thrift stores and was so excited to find these three pillows, 2 blue, and one green for $4.95 each. It was like they were just sitting there on the shelf waiting for me.

We’re enjoying our new fresh looking Master bedding.

Blue Monday ~ Mussels

My Blue Monday is from an early morning walk at low tide on Saturday the 14th. Many rocks were exposed that are usually covered with water so we got to see a lot of interesting sea life. These mussels looked blue to me :0)

Blue Monday ~ Travels

It’s almost Monday and time to post something for Smiling Sally’s Blue Monday. This week Blue Monday for me is all about travels and nostalgia.

Early Saturday morning I traveled from Los Angeles to Seattle on Alaska Airlines. Alaska Airlines is my favorite airlines to fly. We flew out of LAX over the Blue Pacific Ocean and could see the coastline with the Santa Monica Mountains as a backdrop. I upgraded to first-class and had a whole big row to myself with a window seat. Breakfast was delish with a Mimosa just because. I’m on a 40 day Journey focusing on my life with Jesus in this season of Lent looking forward to our Easter celebration. I had nice quiet time on the plane since my row was empty. I’m also reading a book by L.M. Montgomery called A Tangled Web. I’m really enjoying reading more of L.M. Montgomery after finally reading Anne of Green Gables. Soon I could see the Seattle area with the Cascade Mountain Range in the background. I was happy to be “Home” and seeing the Maple Tree out my kitchen window is always a treat especially when the blue sky peaks out from around the clouds.

I tend to get a little nostalgic when I get to come “home”. This is a photo from my senior year in 1968. We had Friday Night Cheer Squad dinners at different homes every Friday. This was at my parent’s home in Montebello. My high school colors were blue and gold. The Song Leaders have the blue sweaters on and the Flag Twirlers have the gold sweaters on. I was a Song Leader. We helped lead cheers with pom poms.
