Blue Monday Recap~

The word of the day is slow. I’m waking up slow, moving slow, and my brain is a bit slow. So much fun activity for the last 3 days has taken its toll on this good ole girl. So here’s a little blue and a little recap of some of our wonderful Easter…

My son Josh took me to the Seattle Sounders FC soccer game against the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday night. It was so much fun to join in on the parade to the stadium with the Sounders marching band and experience the excitement in the air. Josh has Season Tickets and usually my son Dan attends with him but Dan let me go in his place and gave me his scarf to wear with the instructions not to lose it! Fun times. I’m a big soccer fan and it was fun to see the Sounders in person even though they suffered their first loss of the season…

We had a wonderful Resurrection Day. We all went to the 9:00 am service together and heard and felt the power of the gospel. Afterwards we came home for brunch. Dear made his famous Swedish Pancakes which are a favorite at our house. We had our traditional Russian Easter Bread (Kulich) with Seerney Paska (a sweet yummy cheese spread). I used a plastic flower pot to form the cheese this year and I liked the result. Our Russian Easter greeting was repeated the traditional 3 times! Then on to the present day tradition…a little rock band family fun!

I’m going slow and easy today recuperating and getting back on my usual track. Hope all of you had a good weekend.

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.

Love your posts of Easter…and you have now identified a flower that I had never seen before. We had a lovely COLD walk through Central park after a wonderful church service yesterday, and saw some flowers there that were very pretty Nothing like anything I have ever seen In Australia. So thank you!

  4. My hometown team beat you…I’m sorry, but actually I don’t really follow them so I am sorry for you…maybe, perhaps….hmmmm. What a wonderful heritage you continue. Joyous times to you this week!

  5. Hello Ellen,

I would have loved to have tasted your Easter bread. Such an interesting dish full of traditions. I am glad you had a meaningful celebration! It was cold and rainy yesterday for Easter at our end… but we had a good day nonetheless. 🙂

  6. I loved your post. Sounds like lots of action just like at our house over the weekend. I love sporting events. There’s so much energy.
Now I’m out for a walk to debrief and recoup abit.
The sun is shining and it’s wonderful

  7. It’s so much fun to hear about your trips back and forth…with lots of family fun thrown in! Then there is the food! That white cake looks pretty good!! Swedish pancakes are the best!! We had a quiet day with our kids….three square meals and many chocolate treats! By the way….Reeces Peanut Butter Eggs are out of this world!!
    Off to walk! 🙂

  8. Even too much fun can wear a body out! Tis true. And it looks like you had some fun times at your home away from home, home.

  9. Looks like you and Lana did a fine job making Kulich and Seerney Paska without Baba. Did you have your girls to teach?! I know Chell, Ry and Jack were at the traditional making of such.

Also, I associate with your love of a sport…I too love to attend pro hockey and college football games. I’m sure you had a lot of fun!

  10. It sounds like you had good family time. I’m so impressed that you made Kulich and Seerney Paska! I bought Entemann’s this year!

  11. Ellen, the game sounds like so much fun. I love your photo collage. Easter dinner sounds awesome. It is all good. sounds like you had a beautiful Easter day.

    Hugs…Jeanne

  12. Oh I am exhausted too from the past few days, heck the past few weeks. Ha…and posted the same. I love your easter. Looks terrific! Tell me about the cheese in the flower pot again? Is that the paska spread? Is it the same as I make with egg yolks and cottage cheese? I think you posted it on MGCC right? I’ll scoot over there and check it out!

  13. I think I need to see a larger picture of your Kulich. It looks so darling in miniature.
I hope your having a lovely day of rest Ellen B. It looks like you’ve been very busy indeed!

    🙂 Cori G.
