Last Thursday we had three bucks pay a visit to our back acreage.
They had a variety of head gear.
This fella’s was out of the ordinary.
This one was more typical.
Smile, you’re on candid camera.
They entertained us for a while and then they took off.
The Quail families we have on our property weren’t worried about them.
The babies are always well camouflaged.
Before July was over, I completed this wooden piece puzzle. It was fun.
I’m scheduling this post on Saturday morning while we still have power. We have been warned by our Power supplier that they are planning outages to different areas in our county because of the Red Flag warning and the existing major wild fires burning in our county and adjoining county. The concern is high winds and continued dry conditions. We might be one of the properties that will not have power for an extended period of time. Hopefully the outage won’t run into Sunday. We are completely dependent on electricity including our well/water. Time will tell if we can have a fresh shower for church on Sunday. We are not in the path of the current fires.
I’m happy to report we did not have our power shut off. The sad news are the devastating fires that burned through and are still burning in the Spokane area.
August is coming in hot and smoky and tragically. Continued prayers for all those in the path of the fires, those who have already lost their homes, and to the firefighters!

What a lovely visit! It’s fascinating how each buck has such different antlers. That first one really does have a unique set of “head gear.” I had to smile at the “Smile, you’re on candid camera” photo too. 😊
Those tiny quail chicks are incredible. Nature has given them the perfect camouflage.
The wooden puzzle looks like great fun as well. It must have been very satisfying to finish.
I’m so thankful your power stayed on, but my heart goes out to everyone affected by the fires around Spokane. I’ll be praying for the families who have lost so much, for the firefighters working in such dangerous conditions, and for rain and calmer conditions to help bring the fires under control. …when they are in velvet, they are deadly to the nurseries. They love to rub the velvet off on trees and long with the bark.

Handsome fellows. Don’t usually see the bucks around here very often but we sure have a lot of does and fawns.
I am very happy you shared these beautiful animals. They surely are gorgeous with that interesting head gear as you say. I wonder, are these mule deer? They seem different from our white tails but I’m no expert. The puzzle is very nice. I am still doing mine on the iPad but have yet to do a proper, out-of-the-box one. Those are the kind I always did until I discovered the ones on my little magic box 🙂 Good luck with your power outages. A thought crossed my mind about your showers. Have you ever thought of purchasing a camping shower bag for emergencies? You can purchase these solar shower bags on Amazon, or they may have them if you have a camping shop. Anyhow, as I said, just a thought.
