Curiouser and Curiouser

It’s Wednesday so it’s time for the Hodgepodge questions Jo has come up with for this week.

1. What’s something you’re curious about right now?

I’m curious as to whether a trip next Spring will work out for us or/and if more local trips will come to fruition.

2. If you could plan the perfect girl’s weekend getaway, where would you go and what would be on the agenda?

A walkable, safe, quaint town with lots of restaurants, shops, gardens, museums where we could stay right in the midst in a comfortable cottage would be ideal in my mind. Something like a B & B would be nice.

Do you have anything like this on your calendar in the next few months?

No, nothing like this on my calendar.

3. What’s the most unique item in your refrigerator right now?

Elder/Aronia Berry juice made from our Aronia Berries and a friends Elderflowers.

4. In this season of your life, what do you find most challenging?

It takes me much longer to recuperate from strenuous activities and from trips away from home.

5. Do you collect anything? If so why that?

I used to collect a lot of things, tablecloths, napkins, napkin rings, place card holders, dishes, goblets, Beatrix Potter Figurines, etc. Now I’m working on downsizing all these collections and not collecting anything anymore.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Speaking of Beatrix Potter collections here is a peek at my Beatrix Potter Tea table from our Ladies event this past Saturday.

I’ll be late getting around this week.

  1. You have some neat Beatrix Potter items that made for a lovely tablescape. Your girls getaway location sounds really nice- it’s the first one besides mine that I’ve read that does not include the beach as a location :). I have never heard of Aronia berries! (One neat thing about blog reading is that you find out information not just about the person writing but lots of other info as well!). Have a great day!

  2. I am a Beatrix Potter fan too, my baby nursery had that theme and I had a lot of the figurines and music boxes there. I’m not a huge fan of elderflower, but maybe combined with the berries I’d enjoy it more. Hope you get a day or two to catch up. I find if I’ve got a lot going on I need the ‘do nothing’ days to recover.

    • Hi Carla, no, I did not make them. My sister’s mother-in-law did. Funny, too, that I’m at our son’s home right now and my niece is here, too, and she’s wearing a pair of those slippers with the tassels that her grandmother made for her…my sister’s mother-in-law. Those slippers are famous and cherished.

  3. Hope your can figure your trip out. You guys do travel a lot. You’re trips always look so nice. I haven’t heard of those berries. Enjoy! I would agree with your answer on traveling. Me too, not collecting things anymore. That table was so beautiful. Enjoy the rest of your week.

  4. Thanks for welcoming me back to the Hodgepodge. Now that I can use my right hand, I hope to be more active on the blog. Your Harry Potter decor was precious and absolutely perfect for the occasion. I looked back at your previous post and enjoyed seeing all the pictures. Yes, we just aren’t bouncing back the way we used to, and I miss being able to take spontaneous little trips whenever we desire. This is the first spring, summer and fall that don’t have somethings planned. Oh well, there is always next year.

  5. Our twins had the little Beatrix Potter cup and plate set like yours in the first photo. I wonder if they made it through the fire. I don’t remember seeing them since we moved back in . . . hmmm! Your table looks lovely.

  6. Fun HodgePodge answers this week! Now I am curious about the trips you’re planning! (I think I just combined TWO of the questions. Haha!) It’s good that you had not downsized your Beatrix Potter collection before the tea!

  7. Enjoyed all your answers! I think the downside of having fun and interesting collections over the years is that the time comes when you really do need to downsize and that can be hard. Your Beatrix Potter tea table is lovely! Hope you’re having a great week!

  8. I am also at the stage of life where I am trying hard not to buy or collect anything new. I hope your hoped fro travel adventure will become a reality!
