Joyce is rolling out some fresh Hodgepodge Questions for us.
1. Spring has officially sprung (in the northern hemisphere anyway)…did she roll in more like a lion or more like a lamb in your neck of the woods? What needs more of your attention in terms of a good spring clean this year-your house or your garden/yard?
It rolled in more like a lamb.
I’m going with garden/yard. There will be a scheduling of window washing inside and out, soon.
The great thing about Spring is the fact that both Addy and JJ were born in Spring and we get to have family celebrations for them and then the ultimate celebration in Spring is Easter when we celebrate the new life available to us because of what Jesus accomplished on the Cross and his Resurrection.
2. What’s put a spring in your step lately?
Family love always puts a spring in my step. Along with that, Spring blooms lighten my heart.
3. When you were a kid, what was the best snack to find in your lunchbox? If you didn’t do the lunchbox thing, tell us what was your favorite after school snack.
We took sack lunches to school growing up. I’m trying to remember if there was ever an added snack and I don’t think so. I think milk was provided by the school for a small amount of money.
4. In what area of your life are you planting seeds ?
In my Spiritual life through God’s Truth, the Bible, and hopefully the fruit it produces in my life is evident to everyone in my life, especially my grandkids!
Hosea 10:12 ~ Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the LORD, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.
Galatians 6:8 ~ For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
5. Why do you live where you do? Would you consider living somewhere else? Why or why not?
We were on the verge of Greg’s retirement and our first grandchild was born so it was a no brainer to move to a more affordable area of our state within a few miles from where our grandchildren would grow up. At this stage moving again is not on our radar.
The only reason I’d want to move elsewhere is the crazy legislation our state is trying to pass to tax us more and more and make life harder for the common person.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
We had so much fun celebrating Addy this past weekend. She requested a Hardy Boys Mystery Theme for her party and it was a hoot! My full birthday post is here.

Keep as much spring as possible in your steps dear people!

Great family photos! It is so nice to see the flowers starting to bloom.
Take care, enjoy your day!
Your area is beautiful and I can see why you’d want to live close to your kids/grandkids. But it would be hard to live where taxes are super high that, like you said, makes it harder for the common person to have a good quality of life. (And to add insult to injury, many of the tax dollars goes towards unnecessary/wasteful things!) I need to live in a common sense area and I hope my kids settle in a common sense area as well because I want to be close to them! Your pictures are all so good! I also like the Bible verses you shared. Have a great day!
I loved reading about the Hardy Boys party – that is such a creative idea! I have been trying to remember exactly what was in my lunchbox . . .and I can’t. I’m sure it was a sandwich. I don’t remember having chips around the house, so I don’t think I had junk food in with the sandwich.
…yep, spring has sprung.
I think WA state is so pretty! I think it’s good to have at least some family nearby as we get older. I can see how beneficial that has been with my mom and my mother-in-law both, and while we still are relatively young I like knowing I’ll have a daughter nearby going forward. Happy Spring!
Even though I don’t hate winter, springtime is always so welcome with its beautiful color after weeks of gray. That surely puts a spring in my step! I, too, loved reading about Addy’s birthday celebration, full of creativity and love! Love the seeds you are planting!
Wonderful answers to this week’s Hodgepodge questions, Ellen. What an amazing area you live in. Loved all of the pictures!
Taxes… taxes… taxes… I hear ya! And that makes one think about where to live. We had friends who lived in California, and they did have to leave. They could not afford it. They moved back to Iowa.
Spring puts a smile on my face.
I loved the birthday.
Carla
A heartwarming hodge-podge Ellen, sweet photos of the family and I love the look of your home and surrounding property. It looks fabulous!
Nice reading your answers.
Lovely family photo.
Hi Ellen! Thanks for stopping at my blog today.
I enjoyed your post today. Your photos are beautiful. We have crocus blooming but we also keep getting snow so we have to wait for other flowers.
You have a beautiful family and I love the Hardy Boys idea for a party. I remember reading those books and Nancy Drew too.
Great verses for planting seeds.
Great family photo!! Such a bummer when a place that is otherwise great goes overboard with taxes (or regulation stuff) and makes it unpleasant to stay. Our former state is hiking taxes and legislating in some awful stuff and while I’m glad we’re not there any more, our kids still live there and I wonder whether they will start looking to move. If they’d move nearer to us, I’d be all for it! Happy Spring!
You have reminded me that I need to wash our windows, it’s been on my to do list forever! It looks like you had a great party for Addy! What fun.
That is nice how the birthdays can be celebrated in the Springtime. There is nothing like family love. That is wonderful about your spiritual life through God. I have to work on that. I need Him more than ever now. That’s a great reason to be living where you are. It’s not easy for us to live here in California but I’m not about to leave my James. Such a cute photo and I love your last sentence.
