Our Own Backyard

As the saying goes here is what has been going on right here in Colville.

We made it out in the cold to the Rotary Trail on Tuesday last week. We lasted for a good 30 minutes before our faces got too cold to go on. It was invigorating.

Our backyard quail have been visiting regularly.

JJ is enjoying Taekwondo. His uniform was a Christmas present. He also started Basketball and is enjoying it. These indoor activities help to give him the added exercise he needs when winter weather keeps him inside.

All the Christmas bins are up and away. This morning I’m having a house cleaner in for the first time ever. That appointment got me motivated to do some organizing and clearing surfaces here. That snowballed into me working on the kitchen cupboards and the pantry. While doing that our pile of garage sale items got larger and larger. I have only put a dent into downsizing our possessions but it feels good. At least I didn’t vacuum before the cleaner comes! 🙂

This will be a busier week than usual with meetings, appointment in Spokane, more meetings and a birthday dinner here on Saturday. How is your week shaping up?

  1. Hello,

The weather has been so cold lately for walks. I love your Quail, they are pretty birds.

It is great to see your grandson involved in different activities.

Take care, have a wonderful week ahead.

  2. When you are out walking in the cold, how do you keep your face from getting chapped? My face and lips get terribly chapped even using moisturizer and coating my lips. Your little grandson is cute – those activities are good for helping his stay active.

    • Hi Lisa, Truth be told, we don’t do a lot of walking in below freezing conditions. If we are going to snowshoe we wear face masks with just our eyes exposed. My lips are always chapped but my face seems to endure it. Maybe I have an oily skin condition. 🙂 Thanks for your visit.

  3. It looks like you had a good walk and I love the pictures of the birds in your backyard. Your grandson is so cute in his Taekwondo uniform and basketball too. Hope you have a great day!

  4. The snow is so pretty! It seems I am constantly decluttering but nothing changes! Sigh. Good for you for not vacuuming before the cleaner arrived. 🙂

  5. I’ve had a housekeeper from time to time and you do get used to it. We keep things pretty neat and tidy here and my hubs loves to vacuum which helps, but I’d love someone to come once a month and do my baseboards and floors. I have some cabinet reorganizing to do this winter too and will hopefully get to it before the end of the month. Have a nice week!

  6. I enjoy watching quail. For whatever reason, I don’t see many of them around here.

JJ is adorable. Glad he’s enjoying his activities.

Take care in this busy week!

  7. It is very cold here too. We walked about 30 minutes today. It was enough.

Seeing the quail makes me so happy. We don’t have them around here.

  8. Burr, it looks cold. Good for you walking around. Good for him doing those sports. James is enjoying soccer. Our Christmas bins are put away too! I’ve never had a cleaner in. I should try it sometime. You do sound busy. Hope it all goes well. Take care.

I read all comments and appreciate them.
