Here are the latest questions Joyce From This Side of the Pond has come up with for Wednesday Hodgepodge.
1. What’s a change you’d like or need to make this year?
Physically, I need to be more active throughout the year, not just in fair weather. Mentally, I need to be less selfish.
2. Break the ice, on thin ice, ice skating, tip of the iceberg, ice cold...which icy idiom applies to your life right now? Explain.
I’ll go with ‘tip of the iceberg’. I need to continue my efforts in getting rid of many of my possessions! Decluttering the storage areas in our home.
3. What’s a project you’ve been putting off? Will you get to it this month? This year?
See #2
4. Of the fruits that grow well in winter which ones have you tried? Which is your favorite?
pomegranates, clementines, persimmons, passion fruit, pears, grapefruit, lemons, pomelos, kumquats
I believe I have tried all but a pomelo which looks like it’s pretty close to a grapefruit. Since I’m supposed to pick a favorite, I’ll go with lemons.
5. What do you think it means to be courageous?
To fear God rather than man and have my actions, words and lifestyle reflect that.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
We had 6 inches of snow fall Monday night into Tuesday. Snow Hats are in fashion…

I just love the photos with all that snow. What a lovely view of all those trees! I hope your decluttering goes well this year. It’s a lot of work, but well worth the effort.
Hi Lauren, Thank you so much for the encouragement.
…your winter wonderland is wonderful! Ours melted away.
The snowhats are pretty, beautiful winter landscapes! Take care, have a great day!
I am right there with you on #1 and physically active all year. It’s a challenge, but I know it’s necessary. Love the snow hats!
I’m totally with you on tip of the iceberg! I picked that one too and for the same reason. Liked your definition of courage and have the same type of answer to question 1.
The “snowhats” are cute! The snow is beautiful but it looks like it is soooooo cold!!
One of the statements made in my Bible Study group this morning was this-‘Life tempts us in such a way that we stare at our lives and glance at God.’ In this new year I need to reverse that! The snow is so pretty. My hubs is happy we don’t get any snow here, but I confess to missing it just a little. Have a great day and good luck with the decluttering!
Amen to number 5!!
Your snow photos are so pretty!!! I also enjoyed your very interesting answers to these interesting questions. Thanks Ellen!
Yep, I’m working bit by bit on the decluttering thing too. Love your pictures but I hope we don’t get that here. lol
A snow day and it turns your yard into a thing of wonder!
Thank you for #5!!!
And I love all the snow photos! It is finally snowing here today, which I am thankful for the insulation for my garden before the deep freeze.
Carla
Loving those snow hats!!
I am cleaning out, getting rid of and organizing. It’s my favorite thing to do. :o)) Beautiful snow pics but I hope we don’t get any next week as a little is predicted. Happiest of years to you!
Love the snow hats! We are seeing those everywhere in Whistler as well, where we are spending a few days in a winter wonderland. Always enjoy your hodge-lodge posts!
The “snow hats” made me smile! That’s exactly what they look like!
“Tip of the iceberg” describes our activities too. I am helping Bekah shovel out and organize her worldly possessions before she starts back to college next week. Then I’ll be tackling some areas of my own, and there are things to do at Mom’s house too. Definitely the “tip.” We’ll just keep going, won’t we? It will be worth it.
Mentally “less selfish” … is a great thought. It sure gave me pause.
Having grown up in the Rocky Mountains, these images made me want to kiss my monitor. Thank you for sharing!
Being more active is very important. Getting rid of things is my challenge this year. Wishing you success. Lemons is a good choice. I like your explanation for courage. That’s a lot of snow. the photos are so pretty.
That is a lot of snow! Looks pretty but I wouldn’t want it thank you.
I love your snow photos – so pretty even though I’m not a fan of the cold, or having to shovel. Seems like quite a few of us are hoping to do some decluttering in 2024 – I know I need to!
Love your snow! We got a tiny dusting last night, it’s gone now but it was pretty while everything was white.
