Today is our finale for the Summertime Bible Verse Challenge. Thank you to all who participated by leaving a verse or verses to be added to the challenge. It was a good exercise.
I’m sharing a verse from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament today.
Jeremiah 14:14
14 And the Lord said to me: “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds.
2 Timothy 4:1-5
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. 5 As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”

Hmmm…it appears that we have arrived at that day.
The Bible reading challenge that I have participated in this summer is finishing with Revelation this week. In yesterday’s reading, these words stood out to me:

And as I read, I rejoiced that the devil has a “short time.” His end is sure.

Making wise the simple. That’s encouraging!
Sandi, it is amazing how the Word of God can make the simple wise!
