Post-Op Skies

After a long day in Spokane for my Cataract surgery and follow-up we saw this tell-tale sky view as we approached downtown Colville. Later at home we learned that a new fire broke out in the small community of Rice between us and the Columbia River. Our fire fighters are having a rough fire season. This is one of those years where we talk about our 5th season.

My left eye is doing well after surgery. Now that I can’t wear my corrective eyeglasses we had to pick up some readers from Costco so I could see things close up. Distance is amazing and from about arms length on is great but I need help with reading. Once everything is all healed up they’ll check my eyes to get a good corrective reading for the adjustments I’ll need to my reading, phone and computer time.

Thank you to all who prayed and left encouraging comments for me about my latest surgery.

1 Corinthians 2:9

But as it is written: “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.”

About Ellen am a wife, mother, baba (grandmother) and a loyal friend. Jesus is my King and my hope is in my future with Him.

  1. Hi Ellen, thankful for your good report from your first surgery. My husband has readers everywhere too following his surgery. I am sorry about the fires in your area. So sad for those who live there and God bless the firefighters. Take good care.

  2. So sorry about the fires.
Glad to hear your surgery went well. I just wear those readers and have a bunch of them off over the place!!

  3. Happy to know that your second eye surgery went well. We can’t take it for granted. How nice that
this procedure can make your vision better than what you’ve known for a long time.
In one of the places where our kids lived in Indonesia, they have what they actually call a smoky season – from burning the rice fields, I think. One year it was so bad that they had to come home. Too bad! =)

  4. I’m glad you are doing so well after the cataract surgeries. It’s lovely to have it all done!!! After mine, I was given a choice of corrections … one of which included correcting one eye for distance and the other for close. I thought that would make me crazy, but I guess a lot of people choose that so they don’t need corrective glasses at all….. I chose perfect distance vision which I still have after a good ten years! I use drug store readers and have pairs scattered wherever I might need them. I have a bifocal corrective prescription that allows me to use the desk-top computer and read from copy at the same time and that prescription hasn’t changed in all those years.

    • Cataract surgery has come a long way and for that I’m grateful. I’m cracking up about all the readers everyone has scattered around the house.

  5. I’m so glad your cataract surgery went well, Ellen! I had both eyes done a few years ago. and I was amazed by what I could see and the bright colors I was missing. I also have glaucoma so I had an additional surgery for that at the same time which made my recovery a bit longer, but I was so thankful these procedures have become “routine”

Yes, we also have had a smoky season the past few weeks. I learned da lesson last year and bought a powerful air purifier for our house this year for wildfire season which has really helped me breathe easier. we move it to whatever room we are in.
