Truth from A to Z ~ R is for…

It’s the last week in January of 2021 and that brings us to the letter R. So many rich verses with words that begin with R. It’s always hard to choose just one or two or three.

Share the verse/verses you have come up with in the comments and I’ll add them to this post. Enjoy searching and digging!

Besides my current Bible reading in Luke and Proverbs I’m reading a Psalm a day. For my verse this week I’m sharing from Psalm 25. The whole Psalm is so good…

R is for Remember:

Psalm 25:6-7 ~ Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from old. Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O LORD!

From Cheryl: R is for Rich

” But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”

Ephesians 2:4-7

Visit Bethany at Raindrops and Rainbows for her verses on remember.

From Patricia: R is for Remember, Rise, Remembered, Risen

Luke 24:6-8 He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.” And they remembered His words.

From Vera: R is for Redeemed

“You have taken up my cause, O Lord; you have redeemed my life.”
‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:58‬ ‭ESV‬‬

From Maristella: R is for Righteous, Righteousness and Rebuking

” I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
2 Timothy 4:7-8
AND:
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17

From Cindy: R is for Rock and Refuge

Psalm 18:2 ‘The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.’

“The Lord is our safe place, a place where we can find comfort and peace. He’s our shelter in the storm and we’ve certainly been in a storm the last year or so! He’s our foundation, a solid place to stand on when we need confidence and reassurance. He is my Rock and my Refuge!”

From Wendy: R is for Renewed

Renewed — Ephesians 4:23

I’ll let you all look that one up and read the whole paragraph from verse 17 to 24!

  1. I love this verse! I remember our former pastor sharing this verse with us as Youth Sponsors as we prepared to take our youth group to a convention. Thanks for sharing this verse Ellen!

  2. Beautiful verse!!

The one that came to my mind this morning is this:
” But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:4-7

I hate to stop there because the rest of the passage is also rich (even though it doesn’t use the word)! Praise God for the riches of His mercy!!

  3. Luke 24:6-8 He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.” And they remembered His words,

  4. R is for RIGHTEOUSNESS:
” I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
    2 Timothy 4:7-8
    AND:

    2 Timothy 3:16-17
    Blessings,dear Ellen! Thanks!

  5. Rock and Refuge: Psalm 18:2 ‘The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.’ The Lord is our safe place, a place where we can find comfort and peace. He’s our shelter in the storm and we’ve certainly been in a storm the last year or so! He’s our foundation, a solid place to stand on when we need confidence and reassurance. He is my Rock and my Refuge!

  6. RAINBOW
I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. – Genesis 9:13

A rainbow is designed to reassure us that when we see one, God has remembered His promise.

2nd mention of rainbow in the bible
Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him.

This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. When I saw it, I fell facedown, and I heard the voice of one speaking. – Ezekiel 1:28
The Three Meaning of Rainbows in the Bible
There are three over araching meaning of rainbows in God’s Word:

    God’s Promises To Us
In Genesis, the rainbow symbolizes God’s promise to never destroy the earth again with a worldwide flood. When God makes a promise, He keeps it. A rainbow is a reminder of that.

    Creation
Rainbows have been a symbol of creation since Genesis. The rainbow symbolizes God as the masterful Creator of earth and nature.

    Bridges
The rainbow also signifies a bridge. For example, a bridge from earth to heaven, a beautiful, happier place.

    When You See A Rainbow
The next time you see a rainbow, appreciate its beauty then consider what the rainbow means.

We have been blessed to have revealed to us just a glimpse of God’s character. A reminder of His promises to us despite the hardship and difficulties that we face in life. Let it be a remembrance that while we deserve judgement and death, God is merciful and he has given us eternal life. He is faithful to keep His promises to us for eternity. Just as he made and kept His promises to the Israelites thousands of years’ ago.
