Early Celebration

I set the table, I made the meal, made sure the presents were all ready for them, made the cake, but did I take a photo of the birthday guests? The answer is no. My photo taking has taken quite a hit these past 12 months.

Applesauce Spice Cake baked in a star cake pan this time around.

Presents from near and far were all wrapped and ready.

We had corned beef and cabbage with potatoes and carrots and some yams, too. Pumpernickel bread and a cucumber tomato salad. We made one of the corned beef briskets in the crock pot and the other one in the Insta Pot and we decided the Insta Pot meat was more moist. It also only took 70 minutes in the Insta Pot.

These are our three who have birthdays this month all within 5 days of each other. We’ll be celebrating with all of them later this week and I’m going to make sure to get photos this time around!

  1. I know I forget to get pictures of the whole family gathered until I see them gathering up their things to go home, and then we have to STOP!! “Let me get some pictures first!” At least you got a picture of your beautiful table before it was ‘destroyed’. I try to do that, but sometimes forget about that as well in the heat of the preparation of the meal. I am trying to train our adult kids to take over the picture taking and to remember to do it when we are all gathered so that I am not the only one thinking about it. Little by little they are getting “the picture”. LOL. Your dinner sounds WONDERFUL!! I don’t have an instapot, but I keep hearing great things. May have to think about it… Have a wonderful time when you all get together again…and don’t forget the pictures!

    • Thank you Pamela. I’m thankful for our daughter in law, Laura, who always remembers when we are together. She’ll be with us in Arizona so I know we’ll have lots of photos of ‘our people’. So thankful for that. I do better when I’m not in charge of the meal, too. Hope all is well in your corner…

  2. Happy Birthday to everyone! The meal sounds great and the cake looks delicious! I love the glasses and blue dishes.Take care, have a great new week!

  3. (Okay, like so many others, I left Twitter before they pushed me overboard. Hope that I can comment.)

What a gorgeous table setting. I love the blue. Now I am hosting my grandsons’ January birthdays and, believe me, there’ll be no beautiful table setting, Pizza boxes and soda bottles will be the decor. 😊

Happy Birthday to all three! 🎈🎈🎈

    • Twitter pushed you overboard! Who do they think they are?! 🙂
We do plenty of boxes and bottles meals believe you me.
Thank you for coming by and leaving a comment.

  4. Happy Birthday to all. I have never seen a cake pan like that. Made a lovely cake. I’ll have to try a corned beef in the instant pot. Gorgeous table setting and I love the rounded archways in your home!
