These four shots are of the same butterfly, the upper side and the underside.
On Friday afternoon we opened up our patio umbrellas and were surprised to find this visitor. It was asleep but because it’s sleeping spot was disturbed it started moving and after about an hour it flew around the opened umbrella and then flew off into the woods. I don’t mind having a few bats around since they eat mosquitoes.
Jaymison and his sister had some fun in our backyard on Friday evening while Dear and Dan put up two more steel panels on the shop roof. Sprinklers were a delight and we enjoyed some time on the tricycle.
Addy and her daddy spent some time kicking soccer balls into the soccer goal.
We’ll be babysitting these two on Saturday morning so mommy and daddy can have some free time to move about freely for a few hours. That means I won’t be moving about freely visiting blogs. I’ll catch up later.
…wonderful to see, but the bat is creepy!
Hello, Ellen
The Swallowtail Butterfly images are beautiful. Cute captures of your grandchildren. We see bats flying around, I have never seen one land in our yard. Enjoy your weekend!
Gorgeous swallowtail photos. Great to see the bat photo too. Lovely life in the country. B x
How sweet the little ones. Like his shirt!
Have fun today with those darling littles!
Yes, bats are good to have around.
What a surprise to find the bat!
Ellen, how many of your blogs did I miss?? Will I scrolled through and lovely lovely. What fun with the grands. They are true treasures. I have 4 grands and they are 20, 22, 26 and just turned 30 yesterday. He is part of the establishment–haha. Bob was in the hospital for 3 day—his kidneys decided to act weird so the drs. wanted to keep an eye on him and them—he is fine now. I had cataract surgery Thursday and that was a snap and I am–of course–perfect. But in the meantime I seem to have lost track of time as I posted my Monday blog today. Eek!!!
We watered all day today–well it seemed like it. We have some veggies but mostly flowering plants and containers too. Whew. I do miss the grands when they were babies and toddlers.
Peace

MaryBeth, so happy to hear that Bob is fine now and it’s encouraging to hear your cataract surgery went so well. I’m facing that in about a year. Watering here a lot right now too as our temps are heating up all week. Take care!
Oh I meant to say—I like Bats too. We have a ledge full of them on the front porch

I didn’t know bats eat mosquitoes! Good to know. Your grand kids are adorable! I hope you’re not too sore tonight from chasing them around all day. I have one granddaughter and as much as I love hanging out with her (she’s 10 1/2) I can hardly move by the end of the day! I hope you have a great weekend.
You are a busy Bubba!! I can see the twinkle in your eye about exchanging some freedom! time. We remember what it was like.
