Off With Your Heads!

On the letter O today and I’m using an old saying to show our tree service chopping or felling two trees we were concerned about on our property. Two Douglas Fir trees came down in a jiffy with the right equipment. The grinding of the stumps took a bit longer.

We didn’t like how this tree was leaning towards our bungalow.

Our experienced tree service guy said it was a really good choice to take this tree out as the base of the tree was rotting on the side of the trunk towards our house. We were thankful for that decision. We were only going to have the one in the back taken down until the tree people offered to do this one for half the price since they were on our property with all of their equipment already. They got in a full day of work with good pay and we got two down for the price of one and a half! We are counting our blessings!

There are more photos I’d like to share from the grinding and the chipping but my country broadband is acting up again. I’ll have to also show the wide open spaces we now have with these two trees gone. Dear and our son chain sawed the logs into manageable rounds that have been hauled up to our sons place to be stacked to dry. Our son will have enough wood to keep his place warm next winter from these two trees and then some. We haven’t had to burn wood to keep warm at our country bungalow.

Today is Friday y’all. I know some of us need to remind ourselves each day about what day of the week it is!

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 (ESV)

  1. So thankful that you made the wise decision. Love how God gives us so many reminders of how He is watching over us. We truly serve an awesome God

  2. Hello,

It is great you were offered the 2 for 1 price. The tree cutting services around here is very expensive. always great to have more fire wood too. Take care and stay safe! Have a happy day!

  3. We had a tall evergreen taken down at our first house, it’s an interesting process. That crew did a great job cleaning up afterward, the area looks really nice! We have 4 evergreens in our front yard and they block our view of the sky and they block the sunshine! Which you know can be rare on this side of the mountains! Plus the roots are tearing up the driveway and landscaping, the canopy ruins the lawn… We’ve been talking a lot recently about cutting them all down. We’ll see!

  4. Glad you got tree down before it fell down on your home. We had 3 majestic full grown Elm trees taken down at our cottage. The backyard was filled to 8′ ft tall of cut wood. Before we got back there there wasn’t a stick left on property, not even enough for a campfire.
Someone was sure kept warm but our firewood the next winter. Was upset to begin with but turned out it was a blessing in disguise as we would be still stacking wood a couple years later.

    • Sally, yikes it’s alarming that someone thought they could just help themselves to your wood. Glad you are accepting it as a blessing in disguise.

  5. That was quite a process, wasn’t it? It’s a relief to know your trees are safely down and away from your home! How nice that your son and his family will be kept warm with that wood.

Last week, Ron had to work (in his office at home) on Saturday, so our weekend was short. I am looking forward to two days of “different” this weekend! Happy weekend to you!
