Know Your Strengths…

The Greenhouse really does it’s job in encouraging things to grow, just look at these weeds.

We will probably sell the greenhouse or give it away to someone who will make good use of it.

It’s good to face the facts and the fact is we are not gardeners. The greenhouse is something that a gardener can make good use of.

We’ve been repurposing some planters and making areas of the yard more accessible to the riding lawn mower. We also continue to pull weeds.

If you had a greenhouse what would you plant in it?

  1. Tomatoes as well. They don’t grow in Finland in the open air, a greenhouse is needed – which I don’t have.

  2. I think you are so wise to make that choice! I like your post title: Know your strengths.

To answer your question about what I’d plant in a greenhouse . . . I think I’d do what you’re doing! My husband, however, would be full of ideas!

  3. I’ve always wished for a green house to be used mostly for starting vegetable plants such as tomatoes, peppers, etc. to be transferred later into the garden. However, of late my vegetable gardening has diminished and I’ve been purchasing such things fresh from the many local markets and farm stands instead of growing them myself! (knowing my strengths right there?) I would probably use the greenhouse exclusively for growing lettuce and herbs – that would be awesome. Nothing quite like being able to snip fresh grown herbs as needed! Love how you are making that property your own.

  4. If I had a green house I think I would use it to get an early start on planting tomatoes and other vegetables.
BUT I’ve had my fair share of gardens and now prefer just living in our woods with natural things around us and of course the deer.

  5. I would plant herbs in a green house. But I am not sure I would be able to keep it up. But I have enjoyed the few herbs I have planted at home so who knows maybe I would keep them up.

  6. I would plant tomatoes, chillies, aubergines and cucumbers and raise vegetable seeds for transferring to my allotment (a strip of land I rent from the parish council for growing vegetables, fruit and sometimes flowers). I do miss my greenhouse which I had to leave behind when I had to move house.

  7. I would start all my flowers early so we wouldn’t have to wait until July for them to bloom. During the summer, I would clean it out and store tools in it. Gardening is work and if you would rather do other things (I know you work super hard at lots of things) it’s okay! Maybe my sister would buy it (she lives by Whitworth). Deer eat her flowers. Sad.

  8. I am no good with seeds, so like you, I would not have a need for a greenhouse. I hope it will be a blessing to someone else. You really have a nice property/home.

  9. Ellen, I have greenhouse and the grass is growing inside it all the way to the roof! I put two big pots of zucchini in there, cabbage and I’m starting lavender. I’ll use it for starting things in spring. Next year I may grow strawberries in it! Some gardener would love to use yours! They’re handy to have if you are a gardener!🥰

  10. Amen to that! I am now old and do not want a bigger garden and must resist all efforts to expand it. I also didn’t really have the strength to create a new closet this morning, but it is done and John’s shirts are at the ready for Goodwill. I might have to think about this a little longer.
