1. Starts with “O.”

The first weekend in October my husband and I traveled down to my home town of Montebello for my 50th high school reunion. Montebello High School is the proud home of the Oilers. “Long ago she rose and stood, Montebello Dear Old High”

2. A Favorite.

Here are our mascots, Ollie the Oiler and Olive the Oiler.

3. “O”pen.

On Saturday last, the gates were opened up to the alumni to take a tour of the grounds. Things have changed including this gate. The whole school is now fenced in so that if need be they can have a total lock down of the school. Fifty years ago there were no fences around the school.

It was good to travel back in time and to enjoy the present, too, with many of my fellow Oilers in October who are now 50 years older.

  1. Nice group of O’s, Ellen. I’m glad you can go to your 50th, they are lots of fun. But by the time you get to the 60th a lot more will be missing. Our secretary had been thinking I belonged to the “No Longer Here” group and was sooo surprised to see me there. I always like Olive Oil, she will be my favorite also. I don’t remember Ollie. I remember a lot more of the girls (no longer girls??) than the guys. I was a nice boy and they all treated me very nicely.

  2. How fun this was. I love reunions but missed our 60th….we have lost so so many out of our 1956 class….seems most every week I get a notice another has passed away.

  3. So glad you made it to your 50th. I went to my 50th also. I went to a small all girls school and graduating class was about 50 girls and most were there. It was not at the school since that high school is no longer in existence.
Oh well. I was such a shy little mouse but it was fun anyway.

  4. Hi Ellen, nice pictures. You graduated one year before me! We went to my husband’s 50th last year and had so much fun. We graduated from the same school, we were high school sweethearts! My big reunion is next year. Rick’s class was the first graduating class from the school in Ledyard, Connecticut. Glad you had a good time. Have a good week!
