Weekend Roundup ~ V

This week’s prompts:  Starts with “V.”  A Favorite.  Violet.

Starts with V: Viola and

my sister Vera who was Valedictorian of her graduating class.

A Favorite is this view.

Violet: Our daughter’s hair at present is violet or close enough to violet.

This is a vintage photo (1950’s) of my cousin Violet and me and my sisters Vera, Kathy and me. I’m pretty sure it was taken at Easter judging by the white patent leather shoes.

Thank you Tom for hosting The Weekend Roundup.

Next week’s prompts  Starts with “W.”  A Favorite.  Water.

  1. …Ellen what a wonderful post. Your sister ‘V’era is a double play. Your Favorite is this ‘V’iew is a winner in every season. I know that I am old and often stuck in my ways, but ‘V’iolet hair, why? Your Mom and Dad sure have some pretty daughters. Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your weekend.

    • She’s a free spirit, Tom, and wanted to try it before she looks for a job. I only started coloring my hair with natural hair colors in my 50’s and have given that up in my 60’s embracing my grey!

  2. Hi Ellen,

Your violas are so pretty! I love that view — such pretty farmland and farms nestled in the valley with lovely mountains in the distance. I’ve seen blue hair and pink, but this is the first time I’ve seen violet hair. 😀 I always enjoy seeing your vintage family photos! They’re cute as can be. 😀

    Have a wonderful weekend, Ellen!

    Hugs,

    Denise

  3. The flowers are gorgeous and love your vintage photos. Not understanding why anyone wants violet hair or any of those strange colors I see these days. I enjoyed your post!

  4. A sweet series of Violets Ellen. I saw a young lady with your daughter’s hair color when we were going through LA Airport. I thought it looked very nice and I like your daughters too.

  5. I like all your “V” photos, they’re lovely. I especially like the vintage ones, because I love old photos. Thanks for sharing these, Ellen. Enjoy your week, Dawn

  6. Hair color is temporary, so I say experiment away!!! The vintage photos are so precious … love the dresses and the little purse that Violet is holding!

  7. Hi Ellen ~~ Sorry to be so late, Ellen. I am still slow today, sitting with my broken kneecap, brace and ice pack and elevated. That will go on for the next six weeks.
This is an interesting exposure, not many tell their age. Hint, I’m older, perhaps older than Tom. Mrs. Jim and I became great-great grandparents one month ago.
The purple hair is a nice final fling act before having work. When I was her age I let my friend and future first wife bleach a lock of my front top hair.
    ..

  8. Your family pics are wonderful – you all had a bond that continues! I’ve known a few with violet hair too 🙂 Your view is beautiful, a lush green valley ringed by mountains. It is a wonderful oasis!
