…the smoke is gone.
We have blue skies again and white clouds that are visible after we enjoyed a light rain last night and today.
Our pear tree is full to the brim and I always wonder when the time is right to pick the pears. I will have lots to share this year. Our apple crop was very small this year compared.
Since we had some cooler days Dear decided to freshen up the shingles and scrape and paint the overhang.
Things are looking a lot better.
The hydrangeas are still looking nice even though they are waning. The raindrops on their leaves and petals looked refreshing.
We’re enjoying the look of the ground cover varieties we planted. Looks like I need to weed out a couple of grass blades.
It’s a full time of year in our yard.
We are so thankful for our cooler nights and our clear skies. It is so refreshing and we were tired of moaning about the smoke and haze!
“Shower, O heavens, from above,
and let the clouds rain down righteousness;
let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit;
let the earth cause them both to sprout;
I the Lord have created it.”
Isaiah 45:8 (ESV)
…looks like canning pears is in order!
haha…do you want to come and do that canning for me, Tom? 🙂
Thank you for that scripture! I remember once, in the early 1990’s, that my sister and I were focused on that scripture. It had a lot of meaning to us!
It is so refreshing when the smoke is cleared out by a good rain. Happy to hear that. Yummy pears! Your yard and home looks so beautiful.
It has to be wonderful to be able to breathe easy again. Fresh air! Ahhhh… I am very jealous of your pears…my favorite fruit.
Hello, so happy the smoke has cleared and for the rain. YAY! Love your pretty hydrangeas. The pears look yummy! Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!
So thankful for your clear skies and smoke free air! Your pears look wonderful. Seems there is always freshening and painting needed! Dear has done a great job. Pre fall work is at a frenzied pace over here too – pulling old overgrown shrubs out, scraping and painting needing to be done, weeding – oh my!
I know disconcerting smokey skies can bem, Ellen! we’ve seen a few since moving here. I’m glad you had rain and the skies are now clear and fresh again. Hope the fires are finished for this year all through the west. Your pears look luscious even if less than normal in numbers–enjoy them!
Love seeing clearly again! It is looking mighty fine over there.
Your photos of the pears are lovely! Cooler temperatures?? I am longing for cooler temperatures. The MS Gulf Coast is like a hot sauna. Anytime you go outside, your glasses fog up! I’m glad your skies are clear again.

It really is wonderful to see blue sky and clouds once again. The rain the other night was so refreshing. But there is still so much smoke in the interior – we need abundant rain! Your pear harvest looks great – what will you do with them all?
So glad that your skies are clear again! Cool nights and clear skies sounds glorious!
I once made pear sauce (like applesauce, except with pears) that we really enjoyed. You’ll be needing to google some new recipes to use all those pears! LOVE your hydrangeas!
