Green, green,

…it’s green they say on the far side of the hill…

Everything is so nice and green in Spring. Some of the green will fade in the summer.

Pears are starting to grow.

Blueberries are forming in their clusters.

Tomorrow I’m posting a recipe on Mennonite Girls Can Cook for a Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake that would be good with pears, too. Later this summer when my blueberries and pears are nice and ripe I’ll have to do a redo of the coffee cake.

Today is a busy torture day for me as I go to the dentist this morning and the doctor in the afternoon. I tend to have panic attacks at the dentist when they want to put a block in my mouth to keep it open. I feel like I’m going to choke and die. Yep…I’m praying already that I don’t panic. The good news is that Dear came home safe and sound from Chicago last night and he brought home some famous Garrett Mix popcorn/Chicago mix. Have you ever had it?

  1. I’ve not heard of that popcorn either.
Spring is beautiful with all the different shades of green.
Hope your appointments go well. I’ve never had a block in my mouth to keep it open. Sounds awful.

  2. These are great photos from your garden. Fresh pears and blueberries, yum! I will look forward to your recipe. Good luck with your two appointments, I’ll be thinking of you and sending you good thoughts πŸ™‚

  3. We have so much rain this spring that everything is luscious green. I don’the remember all the different shades of green being so vibrant. I am a mess going to dentist but can chill once I am in the chair. there, thank goodness.

  4. Love that popcorn! We have had a stopover at Chicago airport on several occasions, and make sure we pick up some popcorn while there. Glad you survived the dentist. πŸ™‚

  5. I hope your appointments went well. You have such a lovely yard. My sister and I were just talking about our grandma’s pear preserves. John once had a co-worker that allowed us to pick blueberries each summer. I look forward to your coffee cake recipe. I am not familiar with the pop corn you mentioned.

  6. Oh Ellen – I hope your appointments went well today. It must be such a horrid feeling to think you are going to choke at the dentist! Everything sure looks lush and green around your place. The forming blueberries look so neat! Looking forward to that coffee cake recipe.

  7. Hello, the greens are so pretty. I will have some blueberries if the birds do not get them all. Your cake sounds delicious. I hope all went well at the dentist. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day and weekend!

  8. I had to come back to read about the dentist. Thank you for sharing how you feel. My own anxiety is getting worse as I age. Too many bad things at the dentist’s. Don’t they have medication for this now? I asked the last time I went and they laughed at me. Yes.they.did.

    • My dentist and her people are kind about my anxiety, at least to my face. They have offered medication if I’d want it, too. Bad on them for laughing at you. 😦

  9. I’m so sorry about the dentist issues! I read on your last post that it went well, and I forgot to mention that I too suffer from carpal tunnel issues, not fun at all! I love all the green in your photos, and how exciting to see the fruit beginning to form. Have a wonderful weekend πŸ™‚
