On Saturday morning the rains came and then high winds began. Early in the afternoon when the high winds really whipped up we knew we had to go out and remove the patio covers before they and our supports were ruined. Shortly after the covers and any light furniture and decor were tucked away nicely the power went out. We were without power from two in the afternoon until seven in the evening. We were the lucky ones who had their power restored. Our kids still did not have power on Sunday morning. When we left the house for church on Sunday morning we saw some of the wind damage in our neighborhood.
Saturday was not a good day to travel anywhere and I’m happy we all stayed at home and rode out the storm. Katie and I worked on a jigsaw puzzle by candlelight.
My neighbors are now waiting for insurance adjusters to come out and survey the damage before they do any removal.
These examples were minor compared to other damaged property and some lives lost when trees landed on top of cars driving down the road. There are still thousands of households without power.
We are very thankful for the rain and that the high winds are dying down. Hope your weekend was more peaceful…

Glad you are safe.
WE also lost power for quite awhile. Inconvenient, but not life-threatening. I am so sad when I see the loss of life to those who help keep us our electric power and those who lose their lives because their lives truly depend on electric power.
In the grand scheme of things loss of electric power does not impact our lives unless the health of beloved family and friends depends on it, or our loved ones are employed in any enterprise dedicated to providing electric services to many.
The power of the wind is frightening. I’m glad you didn’t have major damage.

Thankful that you all are safe and well! The weather shows us how very little that we are in control and that we depend on Him for every breath. Sobering.
And to think that three hours north of you it looks the same! It sure was a strong wind storm!
My sister was out of power for about 40 hours. We never lost power but very close to us trees came down and hydro lines too, redirecting traffic maybe even today yet.
That was quite a nasty storm. Glad that you are safe and that you didn’t go without electricity for too long. It’s kind of fun to rough it once in a while, especially if one gets to put a puzzle together by candlelight.
It was quite the storm. We on the island didn’t have nearly the damage as the mainland. Vancouver had some nasty effects as you’ve described. Sometimes, a few hours without power is kind of fun, in a Little House on the Prairie way – but only if one is warm and safe.
I saw pictures of the damage in Vancouver but didn’t realize that you were in the same storm. Glad that you are all okay. Very sad for those affected.

Our power went out Saturday morning and was restored Sunday morning. The wind slammed branches into our home, porches, and windows, but no damage fortunately, just a lot of storm debris to clean up. A few years ago a severe windstorm brought three huge trees down INTO our roof and home. So I know things could have been so much worse, and some folks had a lot of damage. Glad you’re O.K.
oh my god, what a damage all over….. lately we experience storm like these to in The Netherlands, strange weatherchanges and sofort… sometimes quit frightening too…

The weather can be quite frightening at times and I am rather scared of high wind more than any other element, I love a good thunderstorm though.
We’ve had a torrential downpour this morning and flash floods to follow but little damage as yet, thankfully!
So sorry about all the trees blowing down in the neighbourhood, it’s sad when trees are lost in storms but human life is more sacred.
Two years ago I purchased some camping equipment including 1) two ring stove, 2) storm lamps 1) 2 cup kettle and lots of candles, needless to say, despite all the warnings of power failures, nothing happened !
I was so disappointed!
Husband was mocking, and laughing at me…
Grrrrrrr.
To quote Queen Victoria ,,
“One is not amused”.!!
Still, I pray for a power cut, just so I can tease him and of course insist upon him cooking by candlelight.

We had a terrible storm come in on Saturday and a lot of people lost power for 2 days! Thankfully, my area was okay but one of my daughters came over on Sunday to do laundry as she had to work on Monday.

Oh no… We had some wind here but nothing like that. I did hear that there were lives lost …. Not good at all. I am glad you are safe and hope power is back on by now for your son and everyone. Scary.
Yes, crazy weather! Our power went out Saturday around noon and just came back on late last night. So thankful for our generator!
the same wind blew here, I was at my doctor’s yesterday, rain blew the room, the waiting room was flooded, the chairs had to be quickly replaced.
Oh my word ! you were really lucky ! that must have been quite a storm. We had some flooding and strong winds in the north of Belgium too ! Crazy weather this year !
