…to get out and move has it’s benefits which are blessings!
This is part of the group of seniors that I walk the trail with on Tuesdays. I join a few of these same gals at an exercise class on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Most of this group are in their 70’s and 80’s. I’m the young chick among them.
When you get out you see God’s handiwork!
We’ve also been out working in the yard a lot this past week. My Bleeding Heart plants are coming up and blooming. Such a treat to see.
Our Forsythia bush is flaming!
Soon I’ll be able to show the before and after photos of phase two and three of our outdoor project. I’m glad we can still move after working outside shoveling and digging and tamping oh my!
My five favorites are walking, making new friends, seeing God’s handiwork, being able to work hard, enjoying the fruit of our labor! What are some of your favorites this week?
I’m joining in with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story for Friday’s Fave Five.
For years there was a group of walkers here in the neighborhood who called themselves the Street Walkers. Everyone knew who they were! Lucky you to have forsythia. It doesn’t grow here and by the time I get to Maine it’s gone.
I’m really enjoying springtime at your place – it will be April before we start doing those activities. (I hope spring will come in April – we have so much snow I’m not sure of that! haha)
I’ve been walking with a group of friends in the church basement – we use a Leslie Sansone tape. Also taking Pilates which i really enjoy. Josie is taking “plastics” – gymnastics š
If you have a moment Ellen, I’d really appreciate your prayers – I’m sharing at a women’s retreat tomorrow morning – thanks!
xx
Happy weekend!
Yes, Kathie, I’m praying for your talk with the ladies tomorrow morning!
Getting outdoors to walk, hike, work, it all helps give me perspective, and even though sometimes the physical exertion makes me sore, I am tired enough to sleep at night and feel much better all ’round. Your walk takes you through some beautiful places and looks like fun !
oh my! you must live either in the south USA or the west coast/southern CA right?? We are still buried in snow out here in NY. I LOVED the photo of your forsythia. Enjoy your weekend!!
Faith we live in the Western part of Washington State in the Pacific Northwest!
Nice to see colorful blooming things! It’s good you have folks to walk with.
Those are some great favorites in your week! I am amazed that your bleeding heart is blooming! (Here, we usually see them by Bekah’s birthday in mid-April.) Looking forward to seeing your before and after photos. And I’m glad that you and your hubby can still move! There is something to be said for that. š
I am so impressed with you Ellen – your exercise routine, your energy, and your wonderful observations! Your Spring pictures give me hope that someday Spring will arrive here too! My favourites this week are spending my first week into retirement with time for appointments (Dr., car, hair, etc.) and accomplishing some things on my list of “to dos”. But the best blessing of all was finding out that the grandbaby will arrive in a pink blanket!
How wonderful to have found a good walking group. There are a couple of ladies from my church who walk but they are too advanced for me right now. Have a great weekend.
Looks like we on the West are going to have an early spring. Your flowers are blooming already? Beautiful!
Oh, I adore forsythia! Too early here for it, but soon!
I’m the youngest in most of my church family groups. I kinda like being the young chick!
Love bleeding heart bushes. I really need to find some space to plant one this year! It’s nice to have a walking group that you can motivate yourself with! Looking forward to seeing your phase II
Now that I’m starting to feel better, I’m looking forward to getting out for some walking. There’s a lot blooming these days. Things are looking good around your yard!
So lovely to see spring coming up in your part of the world. And a good time to be getting those projects done. Glad you survived it š
You covered it! This time of year gives and gives blessings…everywhere we look!
The outside project look like a labor of love….and it will pay off! We are meeting with a contractor this week to consider some simplifying in the back yard! It’s more about making upkeep easier and down time more enjoyable!
Have we had winter? It’s been quite a nice season, don’t you think?
It really has been a mild winter for us in the Pacific Northwest! Our projects will really simplify my mowing this year, too!
Beautiful signs of spring! I love that forsythia! How nice you have an active senior group!
Oh yes, getting out and moving about is definitely a blessing! Especially in the winter when things seem dull and dim…and cold…and snowy. What a great idea to have a group to walk with!! š
Those flowers are gorgeous!!! All we have right now is snow..which is pretty too. But I miss flowers!!
I’m glad you have a group to work out with! Miss my walking buddy, still š
Oh the forsythia is gorgeous!
