Every Good Gift…

It’s Friday again and I’m joining Susanne at Living to Tell the Story for Friday’s Fave Five. So many good gifts come to us to enjoy and here are five from this past week that were perfect.

2015-02-01 Super Sunday6We had our second annual Super Sunday at church and it was so fabulous. Two of our pastors went head to head with short sermons on the great Comebacks in the Bible. In the end Jesus’ Comeback from Death had us all cheering. The perfect ending to the sermon. My church, pastors, and staff are a gift.

310005_585390848160419_526762518_nThese girls (Mennonite Girls Can Cook) are a gift from the Lord to me and every week we share our joys, struggles, triumphs, and failures with each other holding each other up in prayer and giving each other encouragement. This gift of friendship is straight from the “Father of lights”.

1959399_10205999747661051_7491996857274709490_nJosh and Laura gifted me these cool ABC verse cards and I display one card each week so I can see it and work on learning the verse. I’m on the letter e. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” (James 1:17) Since I’m a visual learner this gift was perfect to help me learn and retain the 26 verses included.

What gifts did you receive this week that brought some joy and light into your world?

  1. My grand daughter is a gift and she bring joy and light into my life.
I love the skirts on the chairs y’all are sitting on. So feminine and beautiful.
Friendships are indeed special gifts from God. How heart-warming to see your sons cherish their friendship.
Super Sunday sounds awesome. Do ya’ll record your Sunday sermons?

  2. i love your favourites this week Ellen! The service looks like it was awesome, great food, family (I love when my kids love to be together too – what a gift) and friends – what a sweet crew of them! That’s a neat idea for Scripture memory. Good for you. xx

  3. oh i just LOVE that “letter of the week” Scripture gift!! I want one!! I’ve never seen anything like it. I must “Google” that 🙂 I enjoyed all your faves…it’s always a blessing to be in a dynamic church with excellent leadership. Have a wonderful weekend

  4. Those ribs look so good!

It’s such a blessing when our kids enjoy each other as adults.

Love that photo of the MGCC girls! Was that recent or back in the spring or summer? Looks like a beautiful summer day. So neat to have a group to encourage each other in the Lord.

I like the idea of memorizing a verse for each letter. That’s seems like a great way to memorize – to have it out there where you see it often.

  5. Love your favorites this week, too. A good pastor and staff are truly a gift to the church. Glad you enjoy yours!

    Those ribs look yummy!

Family is so important. You are right, brothers loving to spend time together is a true gift.

I like your scripture gift, too. Looks like just my style.

  6. Oh my…those ribs look SO yummy! I loved the picture of your sons and the obvious love they have for one another and enjoy one another’s company. Thank you so much for stopping by again. I am enjoying getting to know a bit more about you.

  7. What a beautiful post! I love how cheerful it is! I can only shine what joy it must bring to your heart for your sons to enjoy each other’s company!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  8. Very enjoyable post. Wow you must attend an interesting church.
Where in Eastern WA does your son live? We’ve had hardly any snow here in my part of the state (I live in the South Eastern Corner of WA).

  9. It’s bittersweet, watching my kids grow up, but seeing how they are friends as young adults makes me so happy.

What a lovely gathering with your friends!

  10. That looks and sounds like it was a great service at church. It’s amazing how much more we remember and retain when creative ideas like that are used in a sermon. Adult children that love each other and enjoy being together is a precious gift. And now you have my mouth watering for ribs!
