That’s an adjective that would be pinned on me if I didn’t mention the Sunday that was in Seattle!
Everywhere you looked in the the Puget Sound area you would see evidence of the 12th man Seahawk fans.
The city willed the Seahawks to a torturous victory over the San Francisco Forty Niners on Sunday. That means that the Seattle Seahawks are the NFC Champions and will be going to the Super Bowl.
This is the building that Dear works in downtown. It’s the Russell Investment Center.
Looks like we won’t be able to ignore the Super Bowl game this year. There are many years that we do. This year we might even have to host a party.
The game and after game shows and all the news about all the excitement in Seattle ended just before Downton Abbey aired last night. The hilarious thing that happened next during the opening to Downton Abbey was that they photo shopped a 12th man flag on the top of Highclere Castle and gave a shout out to Seattle fans being loud, louder, loudest! How fun is that…
The city of Seattle and all the out lying areas really come together in support of their teams like the Seahawks, the Sounders, the former Sonics.
We will go with the flow and enjoy all the hoopla that having our home team in the Super Bowl brings. Do you watch the Super Bowl? I was happy that the episode of Downton last night wasn’t as dramatic as the previous one. I’m starting to write down some of the lines from the show, too, like “We don’t all have to live off battered fish and meat pies!”
That’s so cool, a timely mashup of Downton Abbey and Seahawks. Too bad we can’t see the video clip. All the best at the Super Bowl!
While I’m happy for Seattle, I am so out of touch (nor do I much care) about football that the 12 reference is lost on me. Pretty lame on my part, huh?
The very loud loyal fans in Seattle are called the 12th man. 11 football players on the field at a time with the 12th man in the stands playing alongside with their support and loud cheers!
I know it is an exciting time in Seattle! I imagine it would be hard to ignore! I was so sad about Anna. Don’t know how they will work this out, but I don’t like she and Mr Bates being unhappy!
We enjoyed watching the game with family yesterday. My hubby and I got a good laugh at the opening of Downton Abbey with the 12th Man flag. Go Hawks! 🙂
Blessings,
Nadine
No 12th man flag was flying here on Denver’s PBS station..lol! 🙂
I’m afraid that Sherman’s post game “shouting” interview made a lot of uncommitted fans now want to root for the Broncos, Ellen. All I know is who can afford the minimum $4,000 ticket to see the Superbowl in Giants Stadium?? Crazy!!
Congrats on the win! As you might imagine, we’re feeling a liitle blue about the loss to the Broncos. They are my brother-in-law’s team so we promised to cheer for them. But you’ll be happy to know that at least one grand says he cheering for the Seahawks. Start planning that party!
says that he is…tired tonight…
It was quite an event – lots of fans from this side of the border too!
Good to know what the 12 stands for and pretty cool how the windows are lit up in that shape! Good idea on the one liners … I think I’ll have to have a pen around… or my phone. Grandma has the best ones.
As a native Kansas Citian, former employee of the Kansas City Chiefs organization and fervent Chiefs fan, I’m not even going to address that “loud, louder, loudest” remark!!! 😉
I’ll be rooting for the Seahawks even though they’re not in our conference. (I’ll even be wearing blue & green!) I just cannot stand Peyton Manning and the Broncos, so the Seahawks get my cheers this year. We party at the neighbors’ house across the street. They have a great set-up on their lower level and everyone just brings something to contribute to the food. It’s chili for me this year again.
Thanks, Alycia. What a fun tradition at your neighbor’s house. Have fun!
Such fun! Has Seattle ever hosted a Super Bowl? That is fun too…
I am hooked on reading webpages that have all of Violet’s pithy statements. Wish they would do an episode where they just followed her around for a day. I am so pleased that an on-line test showed the Downton Abbey character I was most like was Violet!
