…or summer in the burbs.
Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn’t it a pity
Doesn’t seem to be a shadow in the city
All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head
We finally put our patio covers up on the last day of June. That’s pretty late for us but very timely with the heat wave that has been hitting us here in the Northwest. I took these photos in the morning so things are still cooler and pleasant.
We are going to have a few friends over on the 4th of July so it was time to get the deck ready for our celebration. While it was still in the 80’s instead of 90’s I walked about the yard to take some photos of the progress on our fruit trees and bushes.
Apples are moving along nicely along with our bumper crop of pears!
The blueberries on our large established bush are starting to turn blue.
The berries on our small deck blueberry bushes in pots are looking good, too.
You know you can invite friends over with all your floors torn up and they won’t mind? It will be a memorable 4th of July celebration here. We can call it “4th of July in the rough” or “4th of July before the floors”. Besides the good food we will share together we’ll mix up a pitcher of a very relaxing beverage just in case someone stubs their toes on our rough floors!
The fruit really is coming along beautifully. Love, love, love pears! I was just looking for blueberries on my bush yesterday…I saw not a one!
You could almost live of your land now. Just snare the visiting bunnies for meat and you’ll be a real pioneer woman!
🙂 Almost Jill…almost.
I didn’t realize you had those fruit trees on your property – how lovely! We have the garden but it’s a bit slow this year. Not enough rain and then too much! 🙂 It will come eventually.
You will have a bumper crop of fruit…I foresee some recipes using fruit over at MGCC
What a wonderful patio. Ellen, Is that cover a set you order, or did you have it made? It looks great, and gives you such a nice space for summer dining. Your berries are beautiful.laurie
Laurie, Thank you. We ordered this 2 of these sets from Costco online.
We’re having hot weather too… after the flood comes the heat. Forecast high today 35C. … and, no apples, or flowers, as beautiful as your gardens. We’ve water restrictions, and no watering in the garden or car washes.
You’ve got me giggling with your “4th of July in the rough” – good for you!! Carpe Diem (Sieze the Day) indeed. Hope you can stay cool – your yard and patio are gorgeous! Have a wonderful day!
I want one of those patio cover things for our deck SO bad!!!!!! We get INTENSE sun out there (it’s facing south), and it sure would help out an awful lot. Our neighbors left theirs up over the winter, gambling on a light snow season. They lost that gamble BIG TIME when the thing came crashing down! Theirs looked to good that I had vowed to get one. Now I’m looking at yours and wanting one even more!!! Don’t know where on earth we’d store it over the winter months, though. No sheds allowed here, and our garage is full as it can be with minimal room for our cars. I’ll have to figure this one out. Yours just looks so great!!!

Your patio looks like a nice place to be these days . . . wow . . . you also have quite the orchard there!
