Give Me, O Lord, a Heart of Grace

Give Me, O Lord, a Heart of Grace

Give me, O Lord, a heart of grace,
A voice of joy, a shining face,
That I may show, where’er I turn,
Thy love within my soul doth burn.

Though life be sweet and joy be dear,
Be in my mind a quiet fear,
A patient strength in pain and care,
An enmity to dark despair.

A tenderness for all that stray,
With strength to help them on the way,
A cheerfulness, a heav’nly mirth
Brightening my steps along the earth.

Words: Rosa Mulholland, 1886.

  1. Had to analyze this a bit and put it into today’s language. Wow. The meaning behind these words opened wide. For example, verse two:
Even though everything in my life is going very well, may I respect and honor You in my thoughts, You be my strength through any physical or emotional pain, and keep me from depression or hopeless thinking.

Thanks for sharing the old hymns.

  2. I like Vee had to sit and think some on these words. There is lots here….I have not read the words to this old hymn in a long time. I’m going to copy it down…..for more thought in my quiet times.

  3. This was a song written by my great aunt Rosa Mulholland.

I’m a Christian and her words have so much meaning

I so appreciate your respect ans being inspired by a song give to her from Jesus.

your insight was especially inspiring to me tonight.

Rosa was so busy in her life lifting up the precious name of Jesus every moment she wrote 💓

God bless you in your future witnessing.

I pray He Blesses you with His Holy Spirit And His Holy Insiration to win more precious souls into His Kingdom.

    Yours Truly Mark Mulholland

I read all comments and appreciate them.
