Happy to be Home Again…

No matter how much fun it is to go away and enjoy family and friends it’s always good to come home again.

Josh, Laura and I flew back to Washington from John Wayne Airport today and it is so good to be home again. We came home to sunshine and clear views. I’ll be sharing all about the celebrations we enjoyed while we were in California soon. In the meantime the lawn needs mowing and I need to catch up with the laundry. What’s happening at your house?

  1. This is one of my last blog visits of the day as I am on my way upstairs to bed. Glad that you have arrived home safe and sound. Pace yourself on all those chores or you won’t have any fun at all!

  2. The lawn needs mowing here too, and the rose bed needs weeding as does the knot garden. So much to do at this time of year!

  3. I haven’t been ANYWHERE, and I’ll bet I STILL have more laundry to catch up on than you do! 🙂 I’ve become a lazy little ol’ soul!!! 🙂 Yard work is calling, too. I’ll get around to it…eventually. Heck, they’re talking about record cold here on Thursday and Friday with the possibility of SNOW!!!!!!!!! I hardly think I want to be working outside in THOSE conditions!!!

  4. I’m reading blogs, then going to work on an embroidery project for an hour or so before bed. Have fun catching up with home chores. For me, there’s always a sense of satisfaction when the house is put to order after a trip.

  5. What a cool picture of the palm trees.
I spent the afternoon and evening reading through the cookbook which arrived a few days ago. I love it! It is beautiful to look at as well as nourishing for the soul. Your table settings are gorgeous. I was curious about the photos–were they all taken that one day by Beatriz, or did you each take your own photos of food as you prepared it? For instance, on page 31 with the little green flower shaped plates: did you carry those up to Vancouver as well as all the tea party things, or was that photo taken by the individual cook? I love reading about your individual life stories and the history that brought you together. It is a gret inspirational cookbook! (I bought 2.)
Thanks for your visit to my blog. I went to the lilac garden in WA on Sunday and hope to post soon about it. What a great season for flowers!

    • Hollace, Bea took the photos of our time together in B.C. but all the other photos of our recipes and inspirations were taken by each of us individually. The little green plates on page 31 are Bev’s plates and she took those photos to have alongside her recipe…
I’m so happy you are enjoying the book.

  6. Love the new picture of your kids! Glad you are home safe and sound. We are converting to electronic records at our office, so this week has been a little crazy!!! Everyone says it will get better…I trust they are correct!!

  7. It sounds like you had a very full and wonderful visit with your extended family in California, Ellen. I hope no one lives anywhere near the terrible fires. I have been busy watching my grand daughter as my daughter went back to work full time. I love it, but it is a full tie job for me…lol!

    • Pat, Willow Knits who just commented above you here does live close to this fire. It came within 300 feet of her community. This is also the area that Dear and I lived in for 4 years while we were in California up until 2010. We’ve been watching closely and praying…
