O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
How steadfast are your branches!
Your boughs are green in summer’s clime
And through the snows of wintertime.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
How steadfast are your branches!

O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
wie treu sind deine Blätter!
Du grünst nicht nur
zur Sommerzeit,
Nein auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
wie treu sind deine Blätter!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
Your boughs can teach a lesson
That constant faith and hope sublime
Lend strength and comfort through all time.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
Your boughs can teach a lesson.

We had a very nice evening with our small group and it was fun to get 10 people crammed around the tree for a very friendly White Elephant Exchange. No fights erupted for any particular gift that was opened. The party was casual with lots of tasty food items to share. I was very surprised when I finally woke up this morning at 8:30! That doesn’t happen very often. We are looking forward to this weekend and the weeks to come. First off Dear will finally be relieved of being on-call. He’s been running solo for a couple weeks now. We have a fun event on Sunday to attend. It involves driving to another country.
What’s on your calendar for the weekend?
Beautiful, Ellen! Your library is such a cozy albeit large room. The tree is gorgeous, and I love all the stockings across the fireplace mantel. The lighted garland all around is pretty, too! It really adds a lot to the space. My calendar this weekend calls for our annual cul-de-sac progressive dinner on Saturday and lots of rest on Sunday! Glad to hear your husband is not on-call for a while. Have a good one!!!!!!
Lovely tree and cozy room.
Would the other country be Canada by some chance?
Yes, Millie! That’s the only foreign country that is easy driving distance for us! Blessings…
I just LOVE the size tree you have….lovely overall look to your room.
So beautiful Ellen! Your tannenbaum is perfect! Safe travels to you.
We have a “retirement” dinner, much needed housecleaning, some Christmas baking, and play practice on the agenda this weekend.
I’m singing it in German…as it should be sung! You are off on another international trip? Enjoy!
I’m also singing along in German. That’s the way we used to sing it when I was a child.
Your room looks so festive,
Looking forward to Sunday when we get to share an event! Do you have your White Elephant gift ready?
We’re off to Vernon for a friends’ 60th birthday but we’ll be back in time for tomorrow’s fun.
I too am singing that German carol…your place looks so festive and we are so happy that you are coming out to visit. Till then, I will be singing, O Tannenbaum in my white angelic robe.
Enjoy your visit with the foreigners! Give them all my love!
So beautiful! What a warm and welcoming Christmas home. Guess you’re all ready for the Big Day. 😉
Lovely tree and mantle. After three weeks in a hotel, we are moving back home this weekend. Our remodel is almost done and we are so thankful!
Nice warm room with a beautiful tree!
That is a beautiful tree and scene with the stockings hanging all in a row and the effect of the snow, little white balls gently falling down on the screen.
Beautiful tree!!!
