FFF ~ Mucho Gusto!

A week filled with much pleasure.

It’s time to link up with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story and share your favorites from this past week!

Just so y’all know there were things that happened this week that did not bring pleasure at all but the good far outweighed the bad.

1. I walked twice last week. On Friday with two gals from my Bible Study group and on Saturday with my great walking buddy Jan and my sister Lana. When I got home from my Saturday walk Dear was ready with his level and hammer to put the artwork on the wall of our new guestroom (formerly Katie’s room) We accomplished a lot of little things that made a big difference.

2. While we were working I emptied out some things in the freezer and added them to chicken broth to make a “what’s in your freezer soup”. It was tasty and used up things that needed to be used before they got freezer burn. It was a great no fuss meal for the two of us while we were working on the house projects.

3. After church on Sunday (which was fabulous) we met Josh and Laura at a new BBQ restaurant. The food was really good and we really enjoyed the owners of the restaurant. We took our time eating and getting caught up with Josh and Laura. You don’t have to take our word for it…anyone that knows Josh and Laura would tell you that they are a gift from God to their friends and family.

4. After Valentine’s Day sales of candy and other goodies! How great is it that I could buy a dozen roses for $5.00 instead of $24.99. I bought those sweet little cupcakes for $1.49 and they were fresh and yummy. We served them to our small group that meets at our house on Thursday nights.

5. Small Group: A group of people who get together regularly to encourage each other and grow and learn with each other. Our small group is composed of 10 very different individuals. A group of people we would never have hand picked to be in a group with but a group that surprises us in how much we have come together in a short amount of time. It really can only be explained by the fact that God brought us together and we see how God is working in each life and how he has drawn us together with care and love for each other. God is good.

Just had to share the yucky thing that happened this past week, too. On Monday night I was running around all afternoon so I decided to bring Chinese take out home for dinner. Unfortunately I got food poisoning and had a really rough time for part of the night. What a relief when the pain stopped and I could go to sleep again. I was thankful it wasn’t the stomach flu and when the poisoned food left me so did all the symptoms.

Hope you all had a good week.

  1. What an almost perfectly lovely week! Like you an infusion of kid time is always a joy for us and we too, have a small group that meets at our home on Thursday. Our treat for the week was a Mexican Brownie Bottom Cheesecake that we shared with our group last night…GLORY was it good.

  2. Oh, Ellen, I’m so sorry that you were ill. Did you let the restaurant know? I hope that you don’t go back.

Good thing that you can look at the many blessings instead of focusing on the upset. Are we going to see that art work in the guest room? I do believe that you promised. =)

  3. Yup, there are definitely things in the week that are NOT fun. (Food poisoning definitely makes the Not Fun list!) It makes us extra grateful for the blessings!

Flowers and candy at discounted prices is not bad! ;D

Hope you have a relaxing weekend!

  4. I enjoyed reading about your week. When do we get to see the guestroom? I mean, pictures.
I am glad you have found a church home and a group to fellowship with on a regualr basis.

  5. Oh dear Ellen – I was wondering how you got the food poisoning. I’m so glad it didn’t last too long.

It’s great to have a wedding coming up – I got so many things done around the house. You’ll have to collapse afterwards 🙂

Hope you have some down time this weekend!

    xo

  6. It certainly is true that there is nothing like being sick to make you appreciate feeling normal! Glad your illness didn’t last long.

Discounted flowers and goodies are always a plus!

  7. OH UGH….food poisoning is horrible!! i had that once from Boston Market food, thus I have NOT returned to that restaurant. ICK! glad it wasn’t a flu! The rest of your week sounds like it was lovely…..yay for after holiday sales, huh? and I wrote about my small group too!!! have a wonderful weekend…..

  8. Ellen – what a terrible ending to a week. Food poisoning is no fun at all!
The rest of your week sounds like it was delightful – flowers, dear children and new friends (and some work on the house thrown in for good measure). Perfect!

  9. Don’t you love it when Hubby is ready with hammer and nails to get those little chores done! It’s those little foxes that spoil the vines, so when we can hammer one on the head, it feels great. Sorry you were sick…glad it was short-lived. 23 days’ll be here in no time!

  10. So glad the food poisoning didn’t linger and you were able to enjoy the wonderful blessings from the rest of the week.

I love those kinds of soups. So yummy. And that barbque looks delicious. And the company makes it even better.
