And That’s A Wrap!

Random Christmas week stuff…

I’m sitting with my feet up in my flannels enjoying the fact that all the presents are wrapped and under the tree.

And here’s another favorite ornament that’s been around for several years!

I still have to work on the tea strainer star technique with my camera. That great photographer Jill gave the tip to Vee and I decided to try it.

So for the rest of the week I’m planning our Christmas Eve and Christmas day menus and shopping for the ingredients. We’ve decided on Mount Rainier Chili for Christmas Eve and on Christmas we’ll have Prime Rib, Yorkshire Pudding, roasted vegetables, and a salad with fresh beets. Dessert is still failing me. I have to come up with something that is milk and cheese free…

It’s been so much fun again to see all the great family photos we’re receiving from those we only see once a year in their Christmas greetings! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

  1. Okay, first I want your slippers. I am in need of new ones and those look WARM. Second as you started to give your Christmas menu I thought you were going to come through for me. I, too, am at a loss on dessert….but at least I don’t have the dietary restrictions. I’ve never made Yorkshire pudding but they were made on a cooking show the other day. Are they hollow? OOooo….thinking of hollow, now I want to make cream puffs. Hmmm, maybe that would be a fun dessert idea for Christmas day. I could make the parts the day before and put them together that day. Hmmm. Sorry that doesn’t help you at all. Wow, everything I think of has milk in it. Soup is a good idea for Christmas eve. We always had this vegetable soup…it really was never our favorite. But soup is lighter for an evening meal. Great post, you’ve got me finally thinking more seriously about meals. Have a great day!

  2. I wish I could say things are ‘a wrap’ over here…and put my feet up for a spell! And it looks like you have a servant working in your kitchen. I’d like one of those too! Enjoy these last days of Christmas.

  3. My Christmas wrapped up a little early this year but I’m glad as i am fighting a bad cold now and wouldn’t have been in the spirit to wrap presents and cook. I did finish the last of my Christmas cards and I’ve been enjoying my early presents ( mainly books, which I love! My poor husband’s carry on luggage must have weighed a 100 pounds with all the books in them!)

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas filled wiht many blessings!

  4. My favorite posture: sitting down, feet up, in jammies and slippers. And husband in the kitchen fixing a snack! I like the view from your chair. That would be an interesting post theme, wouldn’t it?

You sure did get it all done in a hurry, Ellen. I’m much pokier, and am letting a lot of things slide, unfortunately. I’ve had a bad cold for a few days, probably from that airplane…

    Enjoy your bit of leisure!

  5. No wrapping whatsoever here and then I blithely promise my daughter that I will wrap for her, too. I’m not too swift. Looks as if your tea strainer was too far away from your camera’s eye. Not that this isn’t a beautiful, smoky kind of look. I’m adding this post to my tea strainer tree post!

  6. I love your home ! looks like it is a lovely place to put your feet up in !! smile..
My gifts were all wrapped early this year too and under the tree ! Feels good , doesn’t it ?

  7. I’m feeling quite lazy this year as we’re invited out for Christmas dinner. I’m finally doing a little baking and making the house smell good.
    Love those slippers!

  8. I love the warmth in the colours of your home. It looks inviting….and also looks like it’s a place to relax. You deserve a bit of feet up time.

  9. Funny how some cameras shoot through the tea strainers and create perfectly clear stars while others show cross hatching. My point and shoot does great, the DSLR shows cross hatching. Shooting close to the lights works best.

There is a pop on lens that pros use to get that star effect but I really don’t see much difference
in photo quality from Ye Olde Tea strainer.

I still am in awe of your wall color choices.

Why not have Christmas cookies and candies for dessert? Or serve white sherbert balls, one per person, rolled in coconut flakes, with holly berries and leaves icing piped for trim, all per-made and frozen, then served with a single birthday candle at a darkened dining table? It is an Old La Jolla area traditional Christmas dessert.

I read all comments and appreciate them.
