November!

Can you believe it’s November already?

Lately when I sit at the computer I see this lovely burst of color on this bush in my neighbor’s yard. I had to zoom way in to get this shot because it’s across a drive and on the far side of her yard. That’s why the bush right outside my window is blurry.

I’m thankful for my view. I like to see neighbors coming and going, birds flying in and flying away, leaves falling, and the mail being delivered.

Boy did we have a steady stream of Trick or Treaters last night. We only have a few candies left and I bought a lot.  My sister called and said they ran out of candy and had to turn the light out. It was one of those years where the weather was great and more people decided to venture out. I loved hearing the stories from the little ones. “I get to have one or maybe 2 candies when I get home”

November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.

With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.

The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring.”

Have a great Tuesday everyone.

  1. With hubby’s back out of wack we were hiding away behind barricaded windows and doors….we tried to block Molly’s view of the outside world so she wouldn’t be hoarse from barking within the first 15 minutes. Before it got dark we had a few try but once it got dark and there was no porch light we had a peaceful evening. But I snuck a peak outside every once in a while and was surprised how many were on the streets. It was a beautiful evening but so many churches do Trunk or Treat that not as many kids roam the streets. I haven’t checked the exterior of the house this morning yet to see if we escaped unscathed from vandals. You never know around here. I can’t believe it’s November…time is flying.

  2. I can hardly put my thoughts around it being November already….although this morning was the first time I put a sweater on here in ‘the Fox Den’. Love your new faucet……it’s on my wish list.

  3. Oh dear Elizabeth Coatsworth…I am so glad that people know her and quote her yet. Your neighbor’s Burning Bush is gorgeous. What a lovely view to enjoy. Glad that you are not tempted by all the candy you purchased!

  4. I love the poem Ellen – describes November to a tee. I hadn’t read any blogs for a few days so I’ll comment on the lovely satin basket and pillow Katie made as well. The wedding will be a wonderful event with all the time, love and attention you are all putting into it.

  5. we had 32 kids – a cute bunch! Your neighbour’s burning bush is so red – I need to go check mine and see if it’s that far along. It would make a nice Nov treasure.

Speaking of that – I hope you do join me!

  6. What a pretty verse! November is my birthday month, so I kinda like it! Had to scrape the frost off my windshield today before going to work, but it was a clear, brisk morning. Nice month, November!
