When I was in Sacramento a few weeks ago I stopped by the Capitol. I was born and raised in Southern California but had never visited the State Capitol. Funny that it took moving out of the state to finally stop by for a visit…

There was a beautiful rose garden next to the Vietnam Memorial.

The young service man sitting at the entrance really hit me hard.

All Gave Some. Some Gave All.
I’ll be sharing my photos of the Capitol building soon.

I have driven by the capitol but we’ve never stopped and walked around. I’ll have to do that someday.
The pictures of the memorial are very moving. It must be very powerful being right there.
Most touching…the words at the Memorial. I love the blue California sky!
Military memorials always make me choke up and tears fill my eyes. Just seeing your photos has me wiping my eyes.
I do hope when you toured the capitol you took a picture of Jerry Brown’s first official portrait. Pyscadelic…groovy! Wondering if his latest stint as govenor will be grounds for a new rendition.
That quote on the memorial was beautiful and so true. and sad. and a somber reminder. Kind of reminds me of D.C., but then the last picture…palm trees…definitely not D.C.
Beautiful pictures – looks like the weather was beautiful too when you went. I was taken back a bit by the palm trees – not something I am used to seeing. :o)
Oh I can see why that soldier right there would have an effect. All of these memorials are so moving if one allows herself to “go there” and ponder. It is interesting that you are just getting to your state capitol building. I’ve never visited my state museum and that’s equally ridiculous.
